Drag strip view of Bolt EV from the stands.

Hey guys,

My wife took this video of me in my 2017 Bolt EV premier at the drag strip. I already posted time slips in my drag strip results post, but this video shows the times on the board at the end of each of my runs.

Enjoy!

Will be interested to know:
- there didn't appear to be front wheelspin upon green light ? Had to feather accelerator... or because of track surface or non-OEM tires ?
- any advantage in Bolt at the tree giving it some accelerator juice while holding down brake pedal - - then pop brake + floor accelerator upon green ?

Very consistent runs.
Stock tires at 42 psi, no wheel spin due to good track preparation.

I tried 3 different launch techniques. All runs were in L, for the first run I staged and let car sit with no feet on any pedal until start, and just slammed the accelerator. Second run I did the foot on accelerator all the way to the floor with left foot on brake and released the brake on green. Third run I staged and set parking brake, and slammed the accelerator on green.

Later,

I think without a doubt there is some torque limiting at 0mph, as even a pull at 10mph is significantly faster.

Electric motors draw some mad amps at low RPM- if one day someone broke the code and re-programmed the car, these things would really scoot!
Put the code from the Spark EV into a Bolt EV :D

Yes, I know this is a old thread, but the Original Poster is still active, and the subject matter is still pertinent, so I'll ask anyhow.

Been a long time since I've been to the local drag strip. Seems like you would do better at a 1/8th mile track where you would not top out in speed. How does your 1/8th mile ET compare to other stock ICE "hot" hatchbacks. Thinking of cars like Civic Type R, Golf GTI, Focus RS, and MazdaSpeed 3.
Unlike other EV's the Bolt is set up so that acceleration doesn't drop off a cliff around 40 mph, so the 1/4 mile times are in line with it's power level and weight. But to answer your 1/8 mile question, the best I had in the 1/8th mile on a full battery charge was 9.891 seconds at 75.44 mph. Not sure how that compares to other cars in the hot hatch class :)

I know this comment is probably meant as joking, but is "ice people" thinking even a thing anymore? I am an "ice people" I think. And I like Bolts too. I remember as a kid going to the drags screwing around with my 15 second Hatch and got crap from the v8 crowd.. I liked the v8's back then too even though I never had one. Team mentality is so dumb.
You will find a lot of climate change death cult on this forum... they view those of us exited by a Hummer EV as a threat to human existence, let alone those of us who (gasp in horror) still drive an ICE vehicle for fun. I have a modified Miata that I also enjoy driving, so I am the devil.
