It was due for it's 7500 checkup anyway. Car drives fine, just no display. Would be nice if at least the speedometer could be routed to the infotainment screen.

If you have Waze or Google Maps on your phone- plug it in and your speed will be displayed on the infotainment screen through AA or Carplay.

Oh dear … I have already stopped paying attention to the No Key Detected alarm chirping for no reason, blank spells on infotainment screen and the backup camera turning on and off with a delay. Hope yours gets fixed soon, because it's a safety issue as well.
The bright side, so to speak, is that the display is dead so the fix should be straightforward. Intermittent bugs that could be hardware or software or an unlucky combination of both, I have sympathy for mechanics these days.

On my Gen I Volt I had a display that would periodically no brain itself back to software time zero (some date in 2012 I can't remember specifically). Reported it but the service department had no remedy. Annoying but being a leased car the problem went away when the lease terminated, for me anyway.

Day after report. I let the car sit in the garage overnight, not plugged in. Hit the start button, the display lit up and since then all is well. Could speculate some moisture got in a connection somewhere because of the unusual weather conditions (first really cold day after a wet spell) but who knows?
