It's kind of an interesting way to compare the cars. But they forgot the Mustang Mach-E, and while the route from SF to LA is about 400 miles, the mapped route out of SF is all wrong and the trip doesn't go through Bakersfield.

Did they assume someone taking highway 99 instead of 5? There are WAY more DC FCing choices (for redundancy and backups) than highway 5.

The good news is the Bolt had the best number.
Taking the new lower MSRP of the 2022, the Bolt does even better. And taking actual price paid, often better yet. Especially compared to any Tesla since list price is the price one pays.

They failed to take into account tax credits too.

Judging EV's using EPA rated range is foolish considering how inflated the Tesla EPA range numbers are and how the Taycan gets significantly better than EPA range... also, they seem to have out of date information on some of the cars... MY Model Y Performance for example has 306 miles of EPA range, but they list it as 291.

Actually, the list is a year old. The Tesla Model 3 Long Range in its current configuration matches the Bolt's $141: $49,990/353. If you had checked on Jan 1 before Tesla started increasing prices, the Model 3 Long Range would have gotten a score of $46,990/353 or $133, besting everything on the list. So even now after a $3000 list price increase, the Model 3 (LR) is still quite competitive on this silly stat. :)

This list is useless. What makes the bolt even more affordable is that you can get a used Bolt for cheaper while still having a rather competitive range compared to other EVs. How many 2017 or older EVs with a range above 200 miles? Going with MSRP you may as well include future EVs since they come at the MSRP too and they will certainly have an even better range for the same MSRP.

Well, when you take 10% off the top end and 70 miles off the bottom you end up with $225 per mile of range…makes the Tesla 3 LR look even better.
Thankfully this limitation is only temporary. At the price I paid, it comes to $93.40 per mile of range, once the total range is restored. I can wait for a bargain like that. Makes the Tesla look even worse.

Edited to exclude destination fee, like the list.

You forgot to correct the Bolt MSRP. It's now, $31,000, not the $36,620 on that list. Now do the math. The Bolt is $120 before any discounts are applied. No discounts on the Tesla, and add $1-$2k to the list price for any color but white.

Note: I edited all Bolt prices to exclude the destination fee, since you quoted Tesla prices before the destination fee.

Also if you had checked on Jan 1 before Tesla started increasing prices, you would have seen that Bolts were being heavily discounted by as much as $12- $15k. We bought our Bolt in May for $24,190. That brings the cost per mile of range down to $93.40, making $133 sound kind of expensive on what I agree is a silly stat.:D

Temporary based on what logic? Fires started 2.5 years ago. Multiple recalls started almost a year ago and yet we still have only a promise of resolution, with all of the previous “solutions” proving inadequate. Great little car, with some minor gripes up until now, but my confidence is gone for GM.

Dunno, but that route adds miles that make the trip plenty more than 400 miles, and the maps would be even more distorted if that was the assumption.

I suspect the DCFC options along 99 are because 99 runs through towns and cities, where I-5 runs mostly through farms.

I'll let you know when the range limitation is lifted on our 2021 Bolt. At that point, it will be proven to have been temporary.
