I saw this article posted and it's great news. EA only has 3 stations in WI, on the corridor between Madison, WI and Minneapolis, MN. I'm not a fan of driving far with a Bolt so I have no use for those. However, I also read that they are expanding into WalMart's and it just so happens they will be in their first Walmart in the state this summer. It's not a Walmart I go to, but with the right gun I could see myself stopping there for an hour. But, it's a sign and a good sign. I do have a Walmart by me, and maybe in a year or two it will get a station installed.

I recently traveled from Raleigh, NC to Northern VA and used a couple of (brand new) Walmart EA charging stations on my way up and back. They are super nice, convenient, abundant, and most importantly charge @ the max charging rates for our Bolts (~55kw).

The charging cords are pretty massive and not very long so you have to position your car just right to get everything lined up. My session disconnected prematurely a couple of times which from what I understand is possibly caused by the tension that these massive charging cords have on the DCFC port, hence the need to get it all lined up and dialed in. The credit card system was also a little flaky but I attributed that to the newness of the whole setup. And yes, Walmart parking lots aren't the best but at least you have local eating/shopping options available.

Oh, a giant storm ripped through the Sterling, VA location just while I was getting there, knocking out power to not only the stations but Walmart as well. So these things are definitely grid tied and not impervious to these kinds of situations. Another reason to leave plenty of reserve and not arrive on empty!
