I would disconnect the 12V battery and do a "hard reboot" as a shot in the dark.

I vote for this. You are far better of resolving it now rather than waiting for a dealer to look at the issue. If it does not fix it then no harm done.I would disconnect the 12V battery and do a "hard reboot" as a shot in the dark.
My concern is that I might erase a code or something that ties the problem to EA and then they use that lack of code to refuse culpability for what’s happened.I vote for this. Because there is nothing my car can do while charging normally that would make sparks fly from the high voltage transformer 100 feet away and kill the charging station.how do you even know this is EAs fault?
You saw a high voltage transformer sparking while you were charging? I’m a little confused because I reread your original post there’s a few typos in there and I’m missing the context. As other stated best of luck and keep us posted.Because there is nothing my car can do while charging normally that would make sparks fly from the high voltage transformer 100 feet away and kill the charging station.
oh wow! Did it make a lot of noise too?would make sparks fly from the high voltage transformer 100 feet away
This. Let the dealer take a look and inform you what they found so you can proceed from there. My concern is that I might erase a code or something that ties the problem to EA and then they use that lack of code to refuse culpability for what’s happened.
What a pita. As much as I might have wanted to try to diagnose this more myself, I understand your concern. It would be super interesting to hear what the dealer has to say. This is a real concern.Plugged in a an EA charger in Chipley Florida. Was around 28%. 15 minutes later the cheer went completely black and car read 4% and would not shift out of park. Tried plugging into the closest charger hat would reach, wouldn’t charge. Car says unable too. Completely bricked. EA is basically saying tow it to a dealer and email them what the dealer says. Meanwhile I have no car and now way to get anywhere, not even home. EA’s response, that’s your problem. I want to die.
Yeah, the devices in the large cabinets away from the dispensers are the chargers themselves. The typos are because I was shaking and upset. I’m not an electrical engineer. I’m sure “high voltage transformer “ is not the accurate term. It’s whatever EA puts in that does the actual charging. Not the dispenser you plug in from but the equipment off always that each dispenser gets it’s power from. The one that goes to our dispenser started sparking and smelled like burning electrical stuff and then our disappear went “pop!” And turned black and suddenly the car said unable to charge and read 0 on the GOM and the charge screen in the bolt says unable to charge.
Well that’s definitely not reassuring. After this, I don’t know if I’ll ever trust plugging into an EA site again. I know that’s hyperbolic and doesn’t reflect the stats or probably, but this is a nightmare.Yeah, the devices in the large cabinets away from the dispensers are the chargers themselves.
Looks like Walmart Supercenter | PlugShare (where the OP charged at) went from Efacec to Signet "v2".
On a side note, if you excuse the language, you can see smoke from the beginning of which are claimed to be Signet (not sure if "v1" or "v2" or doesn't matter). When I followed the Twitter threads on this awhile ago, it seems like that guy who took the video got fired.
Same here. Ironically this was the last charging stop on our way back from Dallas. A two day drive with 3 charging stops each day and all of them EA sites. Never had a single issue (other than the usual some sites down type stuff). But Jesus this is a pretty big issue. And after googling “EA station bricked car” it’s apparently not an isolated event. A ford Lightning was recently bricked with the exact same description as what happened to me. Same with a couple leafs as well. Seems like EA has some systemic issues that might not happen often but when they do they cause serious damage.FWIW, I've used EA a bunch since ~March 2020 when COVID hit w/my former '19 Bolt and now my '22 Niro EV. Out of that, I 've used EA BTC Power and Signet "v2" the most.
Nothing bad like what you hit has happened when I've DC FCed at any EA site and no magic smoke has been "let out".
