Hi - New forum member here; sorry if this topic has been previously covered. This is the first time that I noticed that my Bolt, when overnight charging, showed a pause in electric draw about halfway through the cycle. Could it be software directed cell balancing that occurs every __ days or miles? Can anyone explain what is happening here? Thanks.

Yes, I have the Bolt set for a charge complete for a 6 am departure. (Also set for latest possible charge completion.) I subscribe to Com Ed's hourly pricing program (time of use rates), and have set the Bolt for 12 am to 6 am off peak charging only.

Ok, I've seen the same thing.

My guess was that in the middle of a long charge, the Bolt recalculates how long it is going to take, in if appears it is going to end before the departure time, the Bolt pauses until it will be back on schedule.

I use "earliest" start and off peak charging settings - this means the car starts to charge at the earliest opportunity it can - and given the absence of vampire loss it's typically full when I go to leave at any time…I do not see these drops in charging using these settings. YMMV
