This weekend I am taking my first long haul, multiple charging stop road trip and I'm excited!

Trip is 650 miles -1300 miles round trip- from Ohio to the East Coast, and back. Staying overnight halfway through on the drive out, but will be doing it all in one shot on the return trip a week later!

I already mapped out my charging station stops and backups on plugshare, and we will see just how smoothly it goes. I'll try to post updates and photos as I progress. Mostly Electrify America and EVgo stations, with the occasional free fast charging where it still exists.

First hiccup: I have to take an alternate route that adds 50 miles and tolls to the trip thanks to no charging in West Virginia. Boo-urns!

Just curious, what route will you be taking? I have family in NE Ohio and might try and take the Bolt out there from NJ this Christmas. I would take I-80, where the only game in town there is Electrify America.

I'll be taking 70/76 through PA, then 70 the rest of the way. Somewhat ironically, I'll be charging at Sheetz stations in PA, but they are Electrify America stations at them.

Stop number two and another hiccup, but we’re back in business. After five connection attempts at an outdated Electrify America station, we are connected and charging. Silver lining is this charge is complementary since they are replacing the equipment soon.
188 miles at 4.1mi/kWh and 3hrs 15 minutes into the journey.

Stop number 4 was the easiest and best so far. The electric vehicle institute has a robust free charging area in downtown Hagerstown. Topped up for the night and hit the hotel after. The pup was too tired to make an appearance this late.
352 miles in at 3.9mi/kWh thanks to the Pennsylvania mountains in just over 6 hours of travel time.

Stop 5 went off without a hitch! Greenlots free fast charger at the Pepco in Rockville, MD. Awesome little green energy visitor center to explore while you charge. We got a quick fetch session in as well

Efficiency took a slight hit because I was booking it to get to this charger as I left the hotel a little behind schedule. Still very impressed with the ol Bolt going strong at 3.9mi/kWh at almost 400 miles.
