We took our first trip beyond the 238 mile range -- from New Jersey to upstate New York, and the Bolt EV performed perfectly ! The total round trip was 261 miles, so we charged up with an L2 charger on a local college campus while we were at a graduation party. To be sure we had extra range we charged an extra 100 miles -- Charging was exactly 25 miles per hour as expected, and we achieved 4.6 mi/kwh for the round trip. On the way up we used air conditioning and were travelling uphill most of the time, but on the return trip we only needed fan and regenerated while going downhill. The Bolt is a pleasure to drive !

So 130.5 miles each way, leaving a pretty big buffer zone in case of headwinds and uphills. Sounds like a great trip!

Probably feels super satisfying doesn't it?! How was the comfort of it overall on the drive and how did it feel? Do you think you would want to take it for a longer journey?

Longer journey in Bolt

The Bolt was very comfortable and fun to drive on our trip to upstate NY. We easily accelerated up the long hills into the Catskill mountains.

We're now planning a longer trip to Montreal with a stay over to charge up before reaching Canada (since there are very few chargers near the border). I'll report on that journey in September.
