I purchased my Chevy Bolt a few months ago and was given a very hard sell to try a “Free 3 month promotion” for both on-star and WIFI service. Never used either of these services and cancelled during the second month as a result. After cancelling I noticed 2 charges on my credit card, the first of which was charged on the very day I purchased the car! When I disputed the charges I was told that the promotion was only for one month and that they have a “no-tolerance” refund policy. Even after claiming the promotion was for one month they still wouldn't refund the charge made on the day I purchased the car again claiming their "no-tolerance" policy. Unbelievable! I told them I had a “no-tolerance” policy against fraudulent and misleading promotions, but after talking to several different people nobody at Chevy seemed to care that at best they made a mistake and at worst they were committing fraud. Regret purchasing a new car from a company that doesn’t care about fraudulently misleading their customers. Has anyone else been defrauded with this promotion? Anyone have better success than I had at getting a refund for these "Free-trial" charges?

seem to remember in 2017 that there was a free trial for 3 months with a possible six if you gave them your credit card. I didn't care for giving them my credit card number so I declined the trial extension. Sounds like your deal was different if was for only one month. Wonder when they changed that?

googled onstar free trial and got hits for a limited time offer of three months and a one month free trial.

one month: https://www.onstar.com/ca/en/plans-pricing/free-trial/

three month: https://www.onstar.com/us/en/plans-pricing/free-trial/

the one month is for Canada. where are you located?

I learned a long time ago that once you give someone your CC number, you are at their mercy to stop billing. I learned with the penny CD club in the 1990's.... and again with directv's free HBO for 3 months special. When I bought the car, I declined to give onstar anything at all.

I bought in December. I got one month free. I could have had 3 months free if I gave them my credit card, but I did not give them that info.
It was clearly explained to me the difference between the two choices, both by the salesman and the Onstar rep.

You have three options:
Lean on your selling dealer.
Lean on Chevy corporate / Onstar corporate.
Dispute the charge with your credit card company.

I have taken the last option with several issues and I have always gotten my money back from the credit card company. I am fully aware that it was most likely "shut me up" money from the credit card company and that they didn't really extract it from the fraudulent vendor, but it made me whole.

If you want more satisfaction than that, you'll have to work on option 2, but it is likely tilting at windmills.

My kid sister and her hubby run a small pizza chain. They tell me that CC companies will reverse a charge in a heartbeat. She's had cases where a kid at a college ordered 20 pies and the parents reversed the charge 2 months later. So the money really does come out of the merchant's pocket.
