I have a 2019 Bolt (leased), 9000 miles. Last weekend, two strange things happened - while driving on L at about 50-60mph, the gear changed, it appears, on its own to N. Took few seconds to figure out what happened and put it back to L. Then about 40 min later, while taking exit from freeway (so must be at 5-10mph), the car went from L to Reverse. That was scary. Realized and went home with hazard lights on. Since then, took a few short drives and no issues. Other than these 2 incidents, quite happy with Bolt.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? Called dealer - he said they havent seen such case - but plan to get it checked anyways.

We have a 2019 with just over 10,000 miles. I have not seen this problem. Please let us know what the dealer finds. The L to R would be very concerning.

Had my 2017 go into neutral once. I pretty much convinced myself it was self inflicted by barely touching the shift lever by accident. Yours sounds a lot more serious.

Today, I accelerated our 2019 Bolt hard into a car in my driveway thinking that I had shifted from R into D or L. Turned the wheel before accelerating so I hope I was just distracted into not pulling back on the shift lever, but it sure seemed to me that I had.

Hi - mine did this just yesterday. I was driving in L and it switched to reverse on its own as I was slowing to a stop. I noticed something strange and stepped on the brake. The light for neutral and reverse were on at the same time. Any updates on your vehicle?

This has never happened on my 2017 Bolt.
