Got a new battery

I'm standing with Daniel Brouillard of Mirak Chevrolet in Arlington, MA. My 2019 LT just got its new battery pack. It took a day and a half for the procedure. He said it took longer to unpack the new battery and pack up the old one than to actually place the new battery in the car. Daniel says when calling your dealer, please leave your name, address, phone number and VIN. Then they can order the new pack for the cars that are eligible. It's been a long haul but I'm glad I waited. It's a great little car.

Charged mine to 100% after battery replacement. Dealer called a few days later for a photo of the new battery sticker. Sounds like technician got into trouble without photo documentation of the new battery installation.

Can you tell if the new battery has any more capacity? Do you get any paperwork that lists the capacity of the new battery? Do you get any paperwork stating the new warranty period for the battery?
I did not get a new written warranty when they installed the "new battery" When I emailed the EV concierge , He replied that all "new or ReFurbished "batteries have a 100,000mi/8yr warrenty . Hmm , How do I know if what they gave me was REFURBURISHED or a New Battery ?

A refurbished battery may have new lithium-ion cells in an old case.

I'm sure there's a record, but I took a picture of the odometer and sent myself an email with the date.

It doesn't matter. You've got a new warranty no matter what kind of battery they gave you and regardless of whether you have a piece of paper. What's important is that they honour the warranty, and that depends on their records of your vehicle and not on any piece of paper you may or may not have.

?!? You should at least have a work order/invoice showing $0 balance, right?

Nada! Nothing! Not even a pat on the back! After it quit I had a trucker haul it to the dealer. Then they picked me up and took me to Enterprise where they rented me a car. I dropped the car off at the dealer's when I picked up my own car!

Odd -- every time I took a car to a dealer (any brand, whether customer pay, warranty, or recall), I got a record of what was done from the dealer upon leaving, even if the cost to me was $0 (warranty or recall work only). Also, warranty or recall records should be available to any dealer of the brand of car.

Well, the service manager said he would mail me the paperwork, but it has been almost one month and nothing! I kind of trust the SM, 'cause I've been dealing with him through 8 years with my Volt and the past two years with the Bolt. Overall, generally satisfied with the result!
No, it says recall incomplete. I am in the “replace your battery NOW” group. GM has called me twice, but so far no one can replace the battery. I have been told 100% to bring the car in before ordering. It can NOT be done via phone. I cannot verify what the Facebook person is saying because every dealer has told me otherwise.
My letter came, I called the dealer where I bought the 2019 Bolt; Service Mgr looked me up on the computer, ordered the battery that day (no need to bring the car in). They called me 2 weeks later, set appointment, did the replacement 2 days ago. Separate issue, when I got the car back the Service light was on; called dealer, they picked the car up that afternoon and left me a loaner - later called to say it's a faulty coolant temp sensor, they're replacing and will deliver the car back to me this afternoon.

Yeah. Like they had a coolant temperature sensor for a Bolt, just sitting around. :ROFLMAO:

yeah, since that post I had my battery replaced. It was a struggle and took over a month but it finally got done thanks to a member here who directed me to a good dealer.

I totally agree with this guess of what happened and how they got it back to you sort of quickly.

Fortunately the battery cells didn't know a thing about this screw up.
This time of year heating or cooling the cells might not be called for in typical use,,, let's hope...

Another good reason to be down on the list at whatever dealership you have your battery pack replaced at. (y)

At some point the job and the rushing to beat the book value of the job, without screwing up, reach a happy median.
