22 panels plus a separate system for poolI like my Grizzle. I ran the wire myself and saved some $$$.
What size solar system do you have?
I forgot to mention a $325 charge included to install an outside waterproof outlet near my well system separate from the charger, so it was actually $675. Looked at invoice and compared parts prices with Lowes and man what a markup! Almost 100% on some of the parts.Great choice, I wish I had one of these units but I went with Juicebox because it communicates with my utility for discounts.
That's a $350 job pre-pandemic outside of the most expensive markets in the US. Are you saying he literally just ran the conduit from where we're seeing the pic to a panel on the left or did he have to do some kind of weird thing with an inverter to tap the panels or something? No batteries installed or anything else on the invoice like an entirely new breaker panel or new, additional service pulled into the house? Did you multi-bid it?
Important that I said pre-pandemic, I know here in NY I'm routinely seeing people pay double what they paid for any kind of contracting work pre-pandemic. My neighbors house addition was quoted at $69,000 pre-pandemic and he pulled the trigger this year and paid $200k as one extreme example.
Ok, so there's more, still a little weird since the trenching implies a lot more labor than just running the EVSE to the panels to the left but $675 in today's contracting dollars is just high and not "wow you just got straight up robbed."I forgot to mention a $325 charge included to install an outside waterproof outlet near my well system separate from the charger, so it was actually $675. If I come to your house and plug a welder into that outlet, do I receive a fine?Nice! I have the same one and love it. Also coincidentally my NEMA 14-50 outlet is the same too (with a duck)
Installation price you paid was pretty steep. I was lucky enough to have mine paid by GM.

No idea to be honest. Why?If I come to your house and plug a welder into that outlet, do I receive a fine?
I read that tax credit has expiredThere is a 30% tax credit for EV installation costs. See IRS form 8911.
Just, if someone put an electrical outlet in my house and told me to only use it for a specific purpose with a label, I'd have questions 😁No idea to be honest. Why?
The credit for buying a Bolt has expired but I'm pretty sure this credit for EVSE installation is still in effect. I got $436 from it last year.I read that tax credit has expired
Ah I see - yeah the electrician added that label but I don't really care. I will use it for whatever I need that has this kind of plug.Just, if someone put an electrical outlet in my house and told me to only use it for a specific purpose with a label, I'd have questions 😁
I see it on all kinds of 240 outlets on other boards when people are like, "can I charge on this" because it says "DRYER ONLY." (yes, they can)
Depending on what plug is installed it may make a difference. Some people are using the 14-50 because that is how the EVSE was equipped but knowing it is for EVSE use the electrician may not run 4 wires and just use the three. If I try to plug my 50A RV into that plug it isn't going to work with 3 wires as I need all 4....2 x 120V.Just, if someone put an electrical outlet in my house and told me to only use it for a specific purpose with a label, I'd have questions 😁

Our utility has an EV specific rate (versus regular off peak rate) that requires that the meter only be used for EVs. I doubt there isn any enforcement.Ah I see - yeah the electrician added that label but I don't really care. I will use it for whatever I need that has this kind of plug.
Hells yes, an answer. This is really good info and I never understood that 14-50 implied anything with the wire configuration since I've seen it both ways and this also explains the "DRYER ONLY" thing I was talking about seeing often. You and me both.Learning every day.
I noticed reports on the forum that some QMerit quotes were coming in around the GM subsidy + normal cost for a similar installation. For example, if a similar installation would normally cost $600, and the GM subsidy was $1500, the QMerit quote was something like $2100.Nice! I have the same one and love it.
