You and me both.
Frankly it's a labeling problem, they should specify something about 3-wire somewhere instead of trying to discern the device being plugged in and saying, "NO, THIS ONLY." Like I get something is screwy with the standards implementation if there's confusion but this got me making jokes about regulations instead of learning anything of actual value. Also, again, dryers and welders, totally ok in that outlet so why be like "EV ONLY OMG" could just be like "NO NEUTRAL WIRE - INTENDED FOR EVSEs OR OTHER DEVICES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE NEUTRAL LEAD, SEE OWNERS MANUAL"

Just seems like we're injecting universal ambiguity for literally no reason.

Agree however, the average person is clueless so trying to explain ends up being a placard on the wall.
I don't know the right answer....

I'd look into any sort of discounts for install or time of use.
My second house has a deal where they will charge 1/2 rate to charge EV at nights. The current batch of "smart" meters seem to know what is running. I know my water heater is a killer.

Looks good.

Kinda makes me mad that GM seems to show the Silverado EV with the charge port in a new location. Already had to move my charger from i3 to Bolt. I vote they put two ports in.
My electrician thought I was a genius when I made him put it on the front, middle wall of a 2 car garage for this very reason even though it was a bit longer run. My reasoning is no matter where the charging port ends up I'll always be able to charge the car in that position.

Aren't you able to install like a 40' EVSE cable and the only reason they're sold under 25' is code that has nothing to do with actual safety? (please no one do anything unless someone else confirms this lol)

Nice! I have the same one and love it. Also coincidentally my NEMA 14-50 outlet is the same too (with a duck :) )
Installation price you paid was pretty steep. I was lucky enough to have mine paid by GM.

Hi Alex- we are hoping to pick up our 2022 Chevy Bolt later this month. With the offer from Chevrolet for a free home charger, were you able to tell them you'd like the Grizzl-e charger? We'd love to get the same charger, so your post has me a bit hopeful!

I don't believe you get a free home charger (EVSE). What Chevy offers is the installation of the 240V outlet you plug into. You have to supply your own EVSE unless the model you choose comes with one included.

We're pretty lucky in British Columbia right now, we get a free home charger + installation, with $9000 worth of rebates. Now we just have to wait to see if we're actually going to get the car!
