Frankly it's a labeling problem, they should specify something about 3-wire somewhere instead of trying to discern the device being plugged in and saying, "NO, THIS ONLY." Like I get something is screwy with the standards implementation if there's confusion but this got me making jokes about regulations instead of learning anything of actual value. Also, again, dryers and welders, totally ok in that outlet so why be like "EV ONLY OMG" could just be like "NO NEUTRAL WIRE - INTENDED FOR EVSEs OR OTHER DEVICES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE NEUTRAL LEAD, SEE OWNERS MANUAL"You and me both.
Just seems like we're injecting universal ambiguity for literally no reason.
