As I surfed the Internet concerning Chevy Bolt's, I came across this site. This is a great forum for Bolt owners and looking forward to both gaining and sharing information about this EV. We've had ours for just over two months now and are loving it! Our latest adventure was taking our first road trip over to western Michigan -- a 1700 mile round trip. Learned a few things about trip planning (but that's probably a topic for another forum). Bottom line: We'd do it again (the trip helped to relieve any 'range anxitey' we may have once had).

Welcome! And congratulations on your new Bolt. For the longer road trips, I recommend looking at abetterrouteplanner.com but it sounds like you did just fine ?
Welcome to the forum! Road trips are all about planning and charging locations (and having a backup plan).

Thanks for that recommendation wonderbolt! I used the PlugShare app for our Michigan trip...and it did do a good job; however, this link you provided is MUCH better (just like its name implies)! We were hoping to plan a trip to Florida using the PlugShare app, but it looked very difficult to get to quick charge stations along our route through the states of PA and SC. Now, using your recommendation, it is totally doable! Thanks!
(already loving this forum)
@BLULIGHTNIN Glad that it might be helpful for you! Paul did a great review of it in this thread, Is "A Better Routeplanner" Better? A Review for the Bolt https://www.chevybolt.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32239

I use both it and plugshare when planning road trips

You may also find helpful the thread I started
Upstate NY DC fast charging status https://www.chevybolt.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30869

Executive summary, in spite of large sums of money being announced for DC fast charging by Governor Cuomo, NYS very slow, EA to the rescue

People here are always happy to have trip reports, check out the Road Trip Report And Long Trip Discussions part of the forum!

Right now, it's probably best to combine tools. Both Chevy's Energy Assist (in the myChevrolet app) and abetterrouteplanner.com will give you some good route planning that'll have charging in ideal places, but it's worth double-checking the chargers they suggest. If, for example, they route you somewhere that only has a single fast charger with nothing else for miles and miles, you're putting all your eggs in a pretty small basket.
Okay, since no one has asked so far, post a picture of your Bolt! And I predict it will be Kinetic Blue . . . ?

Awesome plate! And that’s my top pick for color, but the family wanted Cajun Red, so ...
I will end up with the Black. It is being discounted more than the other colors they have in stock
I'm going to guess that you are not on Facebook Bluelightnin, but if you are, check out the Central NY Pure EV Drivers group. ;)
Welcome!! This is a fun site!
a 1700 mile round trip.
Well, 17 miles is nice, but..
(Brain: Read it again, he didn't say 17!)
Oh, 170 miles.. Well, that's dec..
(Brain: nope. Still not right...)
er.... 700 miles? Wow, that's more than I...
(Brain: Really? I knew not to expect much from you when you swore Beta would win, but...)
um... 1700? Miles? Really? Nice!!!

And you've only had your Bolt for a little while?!!
I am impressed!!!!

Looking forward to hearing more about that trip!

Hi Desiv, I've posted a nice summary of our BOLT experience during our road trip to Michigan under the "2017+Chevy Bolt EV Ownership Lounge>Road Trip Report and Long Trip Discussions" Forum (Sorry, I haven't learned how to insert hyperlinks yet). It's titled "Our First Road Trip: Central NY to Western Michigan"

I hope you find it informative (or at least entertaining).
