It's about 6:30am. It's quiet. I'm just waking up. My car has been charging all night. First thing I want to do is go outside and unplug the charger. Don't think to grab my keys as I don't need access to the car interior and have no plan to operate it. Groggily I put on my flip flops, go out to the backyard and unplug the charger. As I'm carrying the charger to it's holder -

HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK!

It won't stop without using the keyfob which is still inside the house. I think I woke up the whole neighborhood. My heart starts racing and I run inside to the keyfob and hit "unlock." My ears are still ringing as I type this. So much for a peaceful relaxing morning.

Is there any setting that disables this "Hey, someone is stealing the charging cord!" function? If so, where exactly is it? The car is parked in my gated yard so I'm willing to risk not being warned if its legitimately being stolen.

(Sorry if this is a repeat - couldn't find any forum about this.)

After I was first blasted by the horn, I now always hit the unlock on the fob before removing the dang charging cable, charging or not.

Also, turn off power loss alert in the same screen. It is almost criminal that GM ships with those both on by default. It was that way on my '19 Bolt and I've had the displeasure of setting this off numerous times in public charging (I ONLY unplug cars that are done) and at work (pre-COVID) w/people who didn't follow directions to disable them both.

Please GM, STOP SHIPPING with these on by DEFAULT. I can't think of any other EV/PHEV maker that has they loud, obnoxious honk alarms for these two cases, let alone something this loud on by default. I'm in California. At my work pre-COVID, we had virtually every EV/PHEV brand with dozens of dual-handle J1772 stations + some Tesla wall connectors as our employees can charge for free.

On the 2021 model at least it doesn’t use the horn for the power loss alert. Just the beep (chime) that I hear when plugging it in is used.

We're in central Virginia. Pre- COVID, we had seen pictures of chargers at workplaces in California. :ROFLMAO: .

FYI - if you ever have your car services, rebooted, TSB applied, it will reset your settings and your charge cord theft alert will be re-enabled - Don't ask me how I know . . .

What a pain. Lol. Does it reset energy settings like the off peak hydro hours too?
So many menus and sub menus with setting all over. Not looking forward to going through them all again in the future.

Yeah. I've been greeted by that w/someone else's Bolt at work before. I spoke to the driver who said he turned it off but had gone in for service, which likely (unknowingly) reverted them back to on.

Yeah. We have quite a few at my work but nowhere near as many as say Google or Apple. We also had no DC FCs at work.

Google has a ton. I heard Apple before their UFO campus didn't enough. I dropped by to meet a HS friend for lunch at Apple's Infinite Loop campus before and there were dozens of ChargePoint CT-4000 dual-handle stations in the ground but the installation wasn't finished on them.

The last time I checked ChargePoint's app for Facebook's Menlo Park Campus, they have multiple DC fast chargers there. I've spoken to some former FB employees who mentioned they have EV valets so they never had to worry about moving shuffling cars (to charge and vacate). My work did have EV valets for a bit when the parking was too full so we had parking valets that also did EV valet duty.

Right up until COVID-19, for awhile due to my work's charging stations being heavily utilized, we were trialing a couple of Mobi EV Charger - FreeWire Technologies. They're big mobile batteries that can deliver 5.5 kW per J1772 handle (2 handles). We had an attendant who would move the units to vehicles that needed to be charged and gave them a certain amount of juice before moving on. Before the attendent went home, he'd plug them into our J1772 stations to charge them overnight.

I know my work planned to buy some but then COVID hit and that attendant probably hasn't been able to get paid to do that for almost a year now. :(

Before I had the recall done, I used the GPS enabled charging to auto select 12 amps and used hilltop reserve and those values would be retained. Post recall, these features are no longer available :(

I seem to recall that my Passive Auto Lock feature also had to be reset - this is the feature where the car automatically locks after leave it.

You may have to enable to re-enable location based charging.

On '19+ Bolts, we don't have hilltop reserve but instead have the better target charge level screen (skip to 2:35 of Video Overview: 2019 Chevy Bolt Gives Drivers More Control). Until I saw a pic or movie somewhere else, I didn't even know there could be different target charge levels for home vs. away (not visible in that guy's movie). The home vs. away button (IIRC) is on the right side of that screen.

I guess I didn't have location based charging enabled since I almost never charge at home anyway. It's enabled for me now so I do have home vs. away. Mine's set to 40% for home and 95% for away.

With the bartery fire recall interim patch, you should lose the hilltop reserve toggle until the final fix is available.
