I was told that the battery software update takes 3 hrs, by the Chevy dealer on the Big Island. Is this true?

I decide to call my chevy dealer in Seattle and ask this question. He said that they usually book 1.5 hrs but most customers get it done in less than 1 hr.

It took one hour for us however they scheduled 2 hours. Modern Chevrolet university parkway NC.

3 hours seems optimistic.

• 30 minutes to drop the car off
• 45 minutes for the service writer to document that dropped off the car
• 1 hour lunch break
• 45 minutes for the service writer to find the paperwork and submit it to the techs
• 1 hour coffee break
• 30 minutes for a tech to wander aimlessly in the parking lot trying to find your car
• 15 minutes to drive the car 15 feet to the service bay
• 1 hour coffee break
• 2 hours to find the equipment to update the firmware
• 2 hours to find the instructions for updating the firmware
• 20 minutes to actually update the firmware
• 1 hour afternoon break
• 15 minutes to drive the car back to the parking lot

What!? There is another software update? There were four battery software patches since 2017, that I know of. Which one are we talking about?

I took my 2018 Bolt to the Chevy dealer in Bellevue, WA near Seattle and was out the door in less than 1 hr.

I took my Bolt in for both the software update and the seatbelt recall. It lasted for about 6 hours for all, though they claimed that a lot of that was the fact that the software update has to be done to many different modules. And once one module is updated, they all got to be. It's not just one monolithic update. Passed a bit of a smell test for me so I just accepted the info and moved on.

Mine took 30 minutes.

We had the update and the seat belt pretensioner work done. Three hours from the appt. time of 830 AM till they called to tell us it was ready to pick up at 1130 AM. They had it on charge for us when we got there, no idea how long it had been on charge.

Just waiting on the new battery now.
