A question for a Bolt mathlete: How much will it cost to recharge a Bolt? Let's assume the battery is effectively empty. I'm looking for an approximate cost to compare to a gas fill up.

My power cost is 6.7¢/kWh.

Thanks.

~$4.42 assuming the Bolts charger is ~90% effinient.
$.067 x 60 x 1.1
<2¢/mile

@$2/gallon
20 mpg =10¢/mile
30 mpg = 7¢
40 mpg = 5¢

And don't forget to factor in the need for oil changes, air and fuel filter, spark plugs, etc. on an ICE vehicle. And your time at the gas station, dealer service, etc.

Unless I take the Bolt on frequent weekend road trips, it shouldn't cost me too much to keep it running per month. A full charge is a bit under $5 for me and assuming I charge the car once a week, that's only $35 a month or less.

Right now, a full tank of gas every two weeks costs me around $70 or $140 a month.

I'm jealous. Our Southern California middle of the night, EV rate is over twice that.
