Hello Everyone!

My new Bolt arrived without the front license plate bracket installed. But it did come with a front license plate bracket kit. But I don't know how to install it. The photo I will be attaching shows the fasteners that came with the kit to attach license bracket to front bumper. But I have no idea how to use this kind of fastener. Can anyone help?

Take it back and have the dealer install it. It's part of the PDI,
if you live in a state that requires a front plate. Don't let them
charge you to install it either. I didn't install mine because it
requires you to drill holes in the panel. I like the looks of it without
that ugly plate and bracket hanging on it. I will be moving to a state
that has only a single plate requirement. Those fasteners are, Rivets.

That's a pop rivet. You need a pop rivet gun. They're pretty cheap as they're just hand operated.

That's a pop-rivet. You use a pop-rivet gun to install it. The gun is quite cheap, and should be available at most big-box home-improvement stores.

This would be the type of tool to get at Harbor Freight. The cheap Chinese piece of poo would likely last long enough to get your plate on. Rather than me explaining the process, I linked to a YouTube video, below.

Just substitute self-tapping screws from the hardware store. No point in buying a tool for one-time use.

I had the same issue. I waited until the license plates came and then had the dealer install the license plate holder and they put on the plates too, as a courtesy. (All for free.)

I had the opposite problem -- a front license plate holder that I did not want. I thought about removing it by drilling out the bolts that hold it in place to get the smooth front. But instead my wife and I decided on another approach. See the picture. The Bolt frame is from GM, and one will find multiple EV appropriate license plates on line. We decided on this one because it advertises all electric and includes ... a Bolt! See also our charging station in our garage as requested in other threads.

Just don't run them in with a power screwdriver, like my dealer did. They cracked the bumper cover.

I wish my dealer had left it off. It looked like crap. I got rid of it, and screwed the plate right to the bumper..much more aero.

I live in a front-plate state, and the kit was in my trunk when I took delivery also.
I couldn't stand the thought of drilling holes in my bumper, so I went with the Platypus.
Easy to install, easy to remove should the need/desire arise. Fits in the tow-eye hole.

I wish I had seen this before drilling holes in mine. Oh well. One cost of being an early adopter.
