Well, it was a good 2 year run. Some one hit our 2017 and didn't stick around to tell us about it. Not horrible, but sad for our first ever new car. Also sad that we didn't notice until the dash cam had already overwritten the event (yes, I'll be buying a micro sd card with more storage - not just for situations like this, I've missed other things I wanted as well). I'm curious if anyone has advice/tips/DIY videos they can share on repairing something like this. I'm nervous to undertake it having never done it, and it seems small enough that we'd be better off just leaving it, but I'd like to figure out if it's unwise to leave it, and also if anyone has done this and has tips. I watched this video which seemed quite good and also this one. I also, out of curiosity looked up the replacement part (which obviously I won't need) just to see what the cost would be (almost $550 all told after shipping), and was curious about color selection. Do the parts come without paint? Or is there some way of selecting paint color? Anyway, any suggestions or advice, or links to other videos that you think are better would be appreciated. If I decide to undertake this I don't think I'll do so anytime soon, as I don't have a garage and things are getting colder. But thought the topic would be a good addition to the forum as well. Didn't find this specifically in my searches. I'm also curious about what colors of cars are easier to do this for. Are bright reds and oranges tougher to blend than blacks and greys or more muted colors? Or is the opposite true? Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

If that color is a tintcoat, it's a multi-step paint that would need to be done at a body shop.
The front bumper fascia would probably need to be removed and sanded/filled then primed/2-step painted then clearcoated.

Or just live w/it till it bothers you then get it done. I had something like that on a Prius I traded in. I had it fixed right before I traded it in... the front end looked like new.

I still have a 2" gash in my hood from flying road debris I got 2yrs ago... my color is a tintcoat so it's expensive to fix, so I'm just living w/it at this point.

I will likely just be living with the scratches. It doesn't bother me as much as not being able to hold some one to account.

1) - How can one determine if it's a tintcoat? Is there a GM website reference? Is it obvious from a door panel code?
2) - Do you do anything to prevent that from getting worse?

The ACDelco Touch-Up Paint Tool includes a four-in-one applicator; consisting of a fiberglass cleaning and prep tool, a piston style pen-tip for small, concise fixes and a tapper tip brush applicator for larger scratches and chips. The tool offers .25 ounce of the base color and .25 ounces of a clear coat for the perfect repair. The easy-to-use tool is also fitted with a mechanical agitator to ensure color match.

I too use the same touch up pens from Amazon or my local auto parts store to at least fill in the holes. Though, I only get damage from road debris.
