I'm a new Bolt owner and have found a rather strange situation: One can shift from D to L, but to shift from L to D one must first shift into Neutral. Is there a way to shift directly from L to D without first going to N?
Just pull the shift lever down again. Pull down once for L. Pull down again for D.I'm a new Bolt owner and have found a rather strange situation: One can shift from D to L, but to shift from L to D one must first shift into Neutral. Thanks JustLovett0. That worked. You know more than my salesman or his manager did. They're the ones that told me I had to shift to Neutral first.Just pull the shift lever down again. Pull down once for L. Pull down again for D.
Also, to shift to neutral, just hold the shift lever up in the "Neutral" position for about 3 seconds. When you are in Neutral, you will get no electric motor input at all. The brake pedal will ONLY use the actual disk brakes.
And there you have it, salesmen know next to nothing about EVs. Spend a day in the car, or two on this forum and you will know 10X what they know about the car! Thanks JustLovett0. That worked. Nice! Yeah, I even made the salesguy go check with his manager that you had to shift N first. I knew that couldn't be right.FWIW, a friend of my wife's had owned her Bolt for two years and never knew there was an L and that it enabled one-pedal operation. When my wife saw she wasn't using it and explained it to her, it was a revelation. She said, "It was an OK car before, but in L it's wonderful."
Sometimes, it's the salesperson not knowing. Sometimes, it's the buyer just being so excited/overwhelmed/not listening to all the details.

As they say: The exception that proves the rule. Now, this is a salesman that goes deep into Bolts... he has several videos related to Bolt features and situations
All solved by RTFM.FWIW, a friend of my wife's had owned her Bolt for two years and never knew there was an L and that it enabled one-pedal operation. When my wife saw she wasn't using it and explained it to her, it was a revelation. She said, "It was an OK car before, but in L it's wonderful."

You're not wrong, and it was my mistake thinking the sales and management knew what they were talking about when they were showing me the ropes (for those that don't know, RTFM: Read The "Fine" Manual). All solved by RTFM.
Thanks for cleaning this up! /sRTFM: Read The "Fine" Manual
When I first came across the term "RTFM" many years ago, it was described as "Read the Manual". It's always fun to watch people's faces as first they realize you left out a letter and then suddenly clue in to what it means.(for those that don't know, RTFM: Read The "Fine" Manual).
Actually that is incorrect. This saying started off as a vulgar saying in the beginning as “read the f***ing manual!!!” A less version is “read the freaking manual!!!”(for those that don't know, RTFM: Read The "Fine" Manual).
I'm fairly sure that's why Fine was in quotes. But yeah, it does sound suboptimal. Frustrating, maybe?Actually that is incorrect. This saying started off as a vulgar saying in the beginning as “read the f***ing manual!!!” A less version is “read the freaking manual!!!”
There is no “fine” manual saying. Please that just sounds dumb. LOL
You completely missed the subtext.Actually that is incorrect. This saying started off as a vulgar saying in the beginning as “read the f***ing manual!!!”
LOL!!!! That is what you think. 😜You completely missed the subtext.
