Hopefully Ionfrank's rants can be translated into English. He doesn't mention how much energy he bought from EVGo, or what rate he paid for that energy. Here in California, EVGo and Chargepoint cost about 20 cents to 35 cents per kWh, and some providers charge up to 45 cents per kWh.

Gasoline is much more expensive here in California: around $3.50 a gallon. Some time ago in another thread on this forum, I performed some simple calculations where I compared my old Honda (which averaged 26 MPG) to paying 12 cents a kWh for the electric energy that powers my Bolt (at 3.4 miles per kWh). It worked out to the equivalent of paying about a dollar a gallon for the electricity that powers my Bolt (one-third to one-quarter the cost). Obviously, the price of gasoline and electricity, mileage of the ICE car used in the comparison, and energy use rate in their Bolt affect the results.

Ionfrank has discovered the reality of traveling long distances in an electric car. We have a long way to go when it comes to the necessary infrastructure to support charging away from home. There may be a gas station at every exit on the interstate, but a Level 2 or 3 car charger is hard to find anywhere. EVs are best suited for use as a commuter vehicle, and charging at home is definitely preferred - both from a convenience and cost standpoint.

I tried to parse the first couple of lines...and gave up.

How far can you go @ 30mpg @ gal of v'cheap TX gas is only $1.90 or less??? 600 miles seems toofar??
This question needs to be restated.

Are you asking how far a car that gets 30mpg can go on 1 gallon of gas (cheap or otherwise)? The answer is 30 miles.

If the question is how far can a car that gets 30mpg go, then you need to tell us how many gallons the gas tank holds. My Honda Civic Hybrid had a 12 gallon tank that held 15 gallons during the summer. It could easily get 600 miles on a tank.

If your question was something else, I couldn't parse it.
