From what I've heard on the forum no sales tax on EVs in NJ.What jurisdiction has sales tax incentives for EVs? Details please.
I got a $500 educator discount, and about a month before my Bolt came in I got a GM loyalty rewards $500 discount, and then I was able to apply my points that I had with GM - a few weeks before my car came in GM gave me 12,500 points as a bonus for not installing the heated steering wheel chip yet in my 2022 suburban (which was left off due to chip shortages). So $500 plus $500 plus about $220 in points (I had about 9,000 points in my account already). And yes, they let me stack the two $500 discounts. What exactly were those?
It does. When the door opens and the button on the top stops being pressed in, it lights up for about 30 seconds. If you need another 30 seconds you just press and release the button. Thanks everyone, $29 seems like a good deal to give a try. I like the auto on/off, presuming it works as advertised.
Even if your quote was right and it would only cost $10, leaving it out would save GM over $1.5 million so far and increasing as the production of the vehicle continues. They also left out a center console organizer. They do all these little nickel and dime things to save on production costs and everything adds up along with the savings on labor from their sweetheart deal with the UAW for Orion Assembly, which is why they are able to sell the Bolt profitably at this price point.Do you really think it would cost GM that much for parts and labor to install this on a car while it's being built? I'd guess it might add (including parts and extra labor) less than $10 to build it as part of the car. Adding it AFTER the car is built is more labor intensive, of course.
$23,775!If you add in the $500 credit that I will get for EVgo, and including the $7500 tax credit that I will presumably get next year, all in all it’ll be all in at $24,000 or just over. That’s a ridiculously good deal.
The dog collar arrived and I decided to send it back. I ordered the multicolor model, which says you can set it to a single solid color but what they don't tell you is that it takes multiple button pushes to select the color and later to turn it off every single time. No thank you. I sent it back, but not before taking a closer look at how it installs. I'm now concerned that it'll compromise the weather sealing of the port door because it fits into the slot where the gasket on the charge port door is supposed to seat. As a result, I'll be looking at one of the other solutions I saw in this thread.I just bought the dog collar and will report back.

Okay, so I ended up buying the charger light mentioned up-thread from Microsystems Development (Solutions for EV Charging in the Dark - Charger Light). It's a nice little unit and works well. The dog collar arrived and I decided to send it back. Yes, I live in NJ and I paid no sales tax on my EUV. I also received a $4000 credit taken off the purchase price from the state of New Jersey. We have excellent EV incentives here because we're working hard on improving air quality. It is true about no sales tax on EVs in NJ.
