Looking to buy a new (in transit) Bolt today. I understand the $1875 expires 4/1. Can I still qualify at purchase (today) or do I have to take delivery? Thanks!

reading the IRS instructions:
25% if you purchased it after September 30, 2019, but before April 1, 2020.
The credit is not available for General Motors vehicles purchased after March 31, 2020.
and requirement section:
You placed the vehicle in service during your tax year.
nothing about delivery. just purchased and placed in service in the tax year. if you have a copy of the contract with today's date, I'd think you're good.

Good catch. I had read delivery was a requirement as the Tesla credit was nearing expiration. Does one even sign a paper that says they took delivery, or is the purchase agreement sufficient?
Interesting, I was reading from the IRS website. But the 8936 form itself asks for the date put into service. As long as it's in the tax year you're okay? wonder what would happen in the tax software?

Being retired, my tax liability is very low and the value of my rebate will be $4 next year. Too bad we can't transfer it. OT. I wonder if great rebates will be extended for a 4th month?
