Fat shamer.I call it the skinny pedal.
Fat shamer.I call it the skinny pedal.
It's called a PP (Power Pedal). So, I'm at a loss as to what to call the right side pedal.
I used to call it a gas pedal, but that doesn't make sense in an EV. I've seen some call it a throttle, but while it does have an electronic linkage to a throttle body in a ICE car, there's no such thing in an EV. I also don't think "accelerator (pedal)" works, because I use the same pedal to slow down in 1 pedal mode. I've seen some here call it a "go pedal", but that doesn't work for the same reason that "accelerator" doesn't.
So far, the best I've come up with is the "NotGas" pedal, but labeling something by describing what it isn't seems wrong. It's also a "NotVolume" pedal, a "NotHorn" pedal, etc.
What is it called? A "battery pedal"?
Good point. Another reason that the pedal name should be independent of what's behind it. But really, I think we're all just having a little pedantic fun with the topic. It's really just an accelerator pedal, despite also being used to decel... uh... negatively accelerate. For all of you who have voted for rheostat or potentiometer, how do you know that the pedal isn't modulating the position of an optical encoder, you know, like the one that has replaced the volume control pot on your AV receiver for the last twenty years?
I am 90 years old it is still call it the gas panel, in Chicago I still call the tallest building the Sears Tower, what ever the new name is.So, I'm at a loss as to what to call the right side pedal.

How about simply "accelerator"?So, I'm at a loss as to what to call the right side pedal.

Great question! Since the right pedal is used to accelerate and decelerate, why not call it the "Celerator"?So, I'm at a loss as to what to call the right side pedal.

I totally agree one billion percent! Nothing pisses me off more than when functionality is sacrificed to enhance some other superficial aspect. Style is fine when it's on top of the original {thing}. But don't diminish something for no other reason than simply trying to make it look cool. I know there are many things I could name... except I can't remember any such example right now! mmmmmm.... OK, just to get one on the board, how about jeans with a change pocket big enough to only fit one finger that you can't even bend enough to drag out the dime you have in there?!Except it puts up a display of the volume level that consumes 1/4 of the screen preventing use of other functions until the time delay elapses. Why do you need a visual display of the volume if you are using a GD knob to change the volume. There is soooo much Sh1t put into systems because it "looks" cool but serves no other function and in general makes the product worse.
I call it as E pedal. So, I'm at a loss as to what to call the right side pedal.

We are creatures of habit (aka inertia). We even use the word "house" to describe those funky structures, made from sticks, cardboard, and PVC planks.Gas pedal, throttle, accelerator are all fine & will stay with us long after gas engines are gone, no need for a change ....
DJ's still "spin" tunes ( even though it may be on files), You still "Roll Down" a window by pushing a button, Movies and TV shows are commonly said to be "Filming" on location, even though no film is involved, & they even check the "footage" at the end of the day..
Likewise , the "Dashboard" was originally a barrier of a wooden "board" at the front of a horse-drawn carriage to protect the driver from mud or other debris 'dashed up' by the horses' hooves, but has stayed with modern car lingo ...
We still commonly say "Turn the volume down a notch", when most computers, fones etc don't have a rotary volume control with painted notches ....Before electricity, you had gas lamps to light up your house, streets, etc. and you would turn a gas valve open/shut to "turn" the lights on, .. or off...
Ever get a spam call on your cell phone, & say that you "Hung Up" on the caller? It might have even happened while you were waiting at the supermarket for the employee to "ring up" your purchases ...

If that's its purpose then mine appears to be broken, or at least not very effective.I vote for "Loud pedal" push it, it gets louder, release it and it gets less loud.

I still "taped" TV shows right up until when I switched over to just streaming whatever I wanted to watch whenever I wanted to watch it.I like calling it a Gas Pedal for archaic historical reasons like "Dialing the phone."
Well, when the pedal is pushed, the wind noise does get louder...If that's its purpose then mine appears to be broken, or at least not very effective.
