I've always been a backyard mechanic, doing routine maintenance on my cars. However, when I look under the hood of my 2022 Bolt I have a problem trying to figure out how to jump start it if the 12V battery should die. My owners manual has 2 drawings of the positive and negative posts used to hook up jumper cables or a jump starter, but the drawings aren't very clear. Do those drawings refer to the battery posts or some remote location? On the battery it looks like there is a metal bracket covering the positive post which would first have to be removed (13mm nut?). The manual makes no mention of removing a bracket. The negative post can easily be seen. Can anybody lend some help?

Also, If the clamp on the jumper (preferably a jump pack rather than just cables) isn't too big, there is a stud in the bottom left corner of the under-hood fuse box that is where the 12V comes in from the battery. It will also work for jump starting the Bolt. No need for any wrenches or taking stuff apart. At least that's for the '22 EUV. I don't know about the others.

The jump post is in the fuse box under the red circle PLUS sign on the bottom left corner of the fuse block lid. Three plastic catches to remove the lid. Follow the arrows on the lid to release them. (2023 EUV)

Well! Dip me is sheep dip. Thank you so much. I did see the red circle but had no idea what it was for. I figured it was something for a Chey tech. What really bothers me about this is that there is NO mention of this in my owner's manual. Thanks again.

@RQuickDraw My apologies. I steered you wrong.

It's been this way for almost all batteries that are hard to get to or located somewhere else besides the engine compartment.
Yup! Except the Prius c. That stupid 12V battery is under the back seat and there is NO jump joint under the hood. And the clips that hold down the seat are REALLY REALLY hard to release.

But afaik, all others have some sort of place under the hood for jump starting.
