I assumed the lease of a Bolt, but it only came with 1 FOB, which made me nervous. Dealer would want $414 to get another one. There are many vendors that sell blank FOBs and there are many locksmiths that could reprogram them, but this is what I did.

I bought a blank allegedly OEM FOB from eBay from budgetkeyless for $50. I then went to Lockworld locksmith in San Francisco, who charged me $65 to reprogram the FOB and $35 to cut the emergency key. Lockworld warns you that it is not guaranteed: it is possible that they try to reprogram the FOB and fail - then I would be still out the $65. I had a pretty good hunch that it would work and that was apparently correct. I considered saving the $35 on cutting the metal key since I was not sure that I would ever actually use it, but in the end I just sprang for it. This was nice to get a brand new key for $150.

The dealer is responsible for the keys at delivery. 2 keys are required at delivery.
Make the dealer give you that second key ASAP!
