I've got a perfectly straight flat road with two sections with 45 and 55 mph sections. Conditions are

  1. Windless
  2. Cruise control
  3. HVAC off
  4. Lights off
  5. Radio on (< 1 kW parked)

and the steady state energy cost is

  • 45 mph - 9-10 kW
  • 57 mph - 16-17 kW

Post your results and we can produce a chart of kW vs speed

up until 45 mph it's all physics of moving and rolling resistance - after 45 mph additional load is aero-drag issues - 70 mph is sometimes as high as 20-22 kW
