I rented a Bolt EV and could not figure out how to open the rear hatch from the outside. I could not find the latch. I wonder if someone could explain where to find this or refer me to a video or photo. Thanks!

Location is the same as previous years right where OliverB stated. I have a 2022.

If you're coming from an ancient car like I did, know that it's an electrical switch rather than a mechanical latch. And, at least on mine, there's a very slight and annoying lag before the hatch unlatches.

And for those of us who own our Bolt, just know the touchpad GM uses across several models is not sufficently waterproof for external use and ultimately fails. On the 2011 we owned, the touchpad could be removed from the outside, but the wiring connector could not be reached to disconnect. I removed, at great effort, the interior panel, but swore next time it needed replacing, I'd splice in a bullet connector.

The only good news is the touchpad is inexpensive.

Here's the location on my 2022 EUV. But I think the OP was referring to the EV?
