Hi, so I have a 2022 Bolt EV and I was wondering if anyone knew what those lights on top of the dashboard were? They are red lights on the driver's side that flash and reflect off the windshield once in a while, and I don't know why. I tried looking through the manual but couldn't find it. Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about?

It's on page 191 of the manual, Forward Collision Alert System. Basically a warning that you're too close to the vehicle in front of you and the Automatic Emergency Braking system may activate.
Aha, that's it exactly! Thanks! Strange, because it's gone off a couple times when there were no vehicles around at all.

I've had false positives happen when its radar locks on a car parked on a curve and its brain thinks I'm going to drive straight into it.

Yet, I like the system overall since it has saved my bacon during a couple of periods of inattention on my part.

Now all I'm missing is some way for the car to warn me when there's a pedestrian that is being totally hidden by the A-pillar.
Until then, I'll just have to remember to bob my head all around at each crosswalk.

Pedestrian Ahead works pretty well in my experience. Several times it has lit up when the car saw someone that I hadn't until I was alerted.

It also goes off when it thinks you're going to hit a pedestrian. There's a little orange "pedestrian" symbol in the screen behind the steering wheel that lights up when the car sees a pedestrian, sometimes it lights up when I pass these trucks (although it doesn't think I'm going to hit them and flash the red lights...):

That is the forward collision alert that lights up to warn you that you are about to crash into something. If it really thinks you are about the crash, it will activate automatic emergency braking.
Automatic braking ONLY if your car has that feature. My '17 Premier only has the driver confidence 1 package so it will flash and beep, and then plow into whatever if the human doesn't hit the brake pedal.

It's my understanding that cars without that feature don't have the warning lights on top of the dash, so if the lights are there then the car has the feature.

Car manufacturers have provided several types of symbols in them. They are divided by color scheme. Your red icon most likely means the machine is still working in normal mode. However, you should consult with specialists. I face the same problem regularly. Therefore, I always have 5 Modes Vont LED Tactical Flashlight with me. Btw, do you think I should buy a new car on credit? The current prices for new models are very high. But, I am tired of constantly repairing my old Ford.
