Hi folks,

I plug in the iphone with the expectation of keeping it charged only (the wireless charge cradle is rather small for my 6S Plus). I do not have iphone "music" option activated in iphone settings, no music apps that I am aware of, and I have no idea how the Bolt gets the iphone to start playing music like an iPod. Anyway, I do not want this. Guidance appreciated.

Is CarPlay active on your iPhone? It does the same for me, and defaults to whatever it was I was last listening to, be it Spotify, Radio.com, etc. It's actually a pretty convenient feature. If you don't want it to do that and just use it purely for charging, you can disable CarPlay on your 6s.

There is a USB Auto Launch option in the Settings menu. If you set this to off, the music should not start automatically.

If you only want to charge, use the second USB port. Only the first works with CarPlay/AA.

Hello MDBolt and thank you for responding. Yes, I am sure this could be useful at times, I just need to understand the functionality. FWIW, CarPlay is nowhere to be found on my iphone. I recall deleting the app soon after I got the Bolt. Prefer to understand the Bolt itself well before I confuse the issue (for me anyway) by adding in the iphone. Hence my surprise at the spontaneous activation of apple music.

Cheers,
Michael

Hello Syked,

Thanks -- that did the trick -- turning off USB autoplay stopped the unexpected music playing. I am still puzzled though Syked, I have never played music on my iphone. I do not even have the apple music app activated, it is turned off as far as I can tell. I could see if I was listening to the BBC on my iphone, and wanted that to continue after I hop in the car, "autoplay" would make sense to me. But, even if I was listening to the (say) BBC before getting in the car, "autoplay" is (somehow) choosing to play music. . . music that I did not choose, do not like, from an unknown source. Surely, such an "autoplay" feature ought to allow a choice of what app to access. It should not bypass my OFF status of the music app, in order to play what IT wants me to hear. Is this a bug or a "feature?" What say you?

No worries! For me at least, this feature is more about convenience - it saves me the hassle of having to re-open the app to listen to music or an audiobook every time I plug in. (I know it probably takes seconds, but hey that adds up!) CarPlay is found under Settings>General>CarPlay, in case you decide to use it in the future. On the phone, it would allow you to arrange the button/app layout.

But thankfully, @Syked was able to find the best solution for you. Enjoy the Bolt!
