Hello everyone. EVs aren't exactly common in my neck of the woods, but I'm happy to say I'm doing my part to try to improve that situation! My family made the switch over to EVs a little over two years ago when we swapped out a BMW M235i and a Porsche Macan S for a 2017 Chevy Volt and a 2017 BMW i3 REx. Weird, I know. We even installed a large solar array that enables us to power the entire house and charge the EVS while making more energy than we use. I guess you could say we got bit by the renewable bug and went all in.
Fast forward from 2016 to a week ago, we made the decision to finally get our first pure BEV. Tesla's Model 3 is a future goal, but for now the Bolt made perfect sense. We checked the near-ish inventories (pitifully lacking) but fortunately found a 2019 Bolt in Nightfall Gray Premier trim located within a distance that we'd actually be able to drive the car home and not have to fuss with a trucking service or an overnight stay in a hotel.
So, last week, we said goodbye to our last pure gas car (2014 BMW 328i) and hello to driving completely carbon free! It has been an absolute joy since. The holidays have been the perfect opportunity to test out the car's range, going back and forth from family's houses and to the 'big city' of Little Rock to shop, watch movies, etc. I'm happy to say that at this point, we've driven over 1100 miles already and haven't had a single issue with range limitations.
A few days ago we installed the Thule aero roof racks and today had the windows tinted. I'm thinking she looks rightly proper now.
