I hate dark mode. Imagine reading a book or newspaper where the page is black and the text is white. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should...
For mobile applications, I find it easier to use dark mode to reduce the glare that I get from white backgrounds. Especially in the middle of the night / early morning when the ambient environment is similarly dark.

Keypass is now useless for me. MyChevy app 5.0.1 (8). Every since the release of 5.0 it won't keep keypass setup. Tried about a dozen times. It's the app, not the car; the keypass settings on the car say it's set up for my iPhoneXR even when Keypass says "Run Setup". If I delete my phone from the car's keypass device list, Keypass setup always works [setup needs internet connectivity working for the app]. It stays connected for maybe a day, then back to 'run setup'. If GM is trying to kill Keypass so they can sell OnStar, why not just remove it from the app? I find it useful [2017LT]. A year from now my free 'basic' "connected services" package goes away, and w/out Keypass I have no connection to the car. I'm certainly not going to pay $15/month for OnStar.

Has anyone got Keypass to stay setup with 5.0.x?

Has anyone seen/had complaints about the NEW (Early 2021) My Chevy app? Maybe the screen is a bit nicer (or cleverer or something) but, well, it mostly does not work for me, and/or is intermittent.

I can get the Bolt to start (precondition) remotely sometimes. It may lock or beep--have not tried. But here is my list of fails:

1) At one point I got a prompt to set up keypass (I had set it up on the old app, but hey...). When I tried it failed to connect. Now I can't even see a way to try to set it up.

2) Status NEVER downloads. It just has the spinning circle of death.

3) I see no sign of the navigation/charging station part the used to be on the old app.

4) If I plug my iPhone into the USB on the car, and select the Chevy app on the Car Play screen, it tells me to open the app on the phone and log in. I do that, but nothing happens. It keeps telling me to do that.

5) The app keeps asking for my pin. Even if I select "Use Face ID" it never does.

6) The "energy" tab at the bottom crashes the app.

7) "More" just gives me Facebook, Instagram etc. I assume alternate ways to login?

Grrrrr. Any thoughts?
Call the Connection support number.... mine also was not working and the Tech had to do a bunch of stuff to get mine working again... now everything is working.

Connection support? You mean the Onstar button in the car?

Ok, maybe you can shed some light for those of us who are still frustrated. By doing a bunch of stuff, does that imply the fix was on your side? Or did they do something in their computers?

Were you using iOS? Android? Did you have to uninstall, reinstall, re-register?

I think a lot of us would like a bit more info rather than taking chances on a support line where you typically get one in 10 reps who are effective and can get to the bottom of things quickly.

So the Tech lady, had to do most of it on her end... Sent signals and refresh signals and such. I have an android phone Google 4a 5G... I did little other than see if things worked after she did what she did... I think one time I did a "reboot" of some kind, she walked me through everything. She was so helpful and definitely knew what she was doing.... sorry I can't be more helpful, I did not write anything down... it did take about 30 minutes on the phone to get me working.

Thanks Brent, that is actually very helpful.

One person mentioned re-installing the app, that is why I wondered.

Apparently, this update was poorly tested. That or the call center begged for something to do and are now inundated with calls.

One of the UI designers posted on the forum 6-9 months ago asking for input and got an earful. They seem to have listened to a few common themes like automatically synching when you open the app (even though this fails most of the time). One thing I was hopeful for is to change connection priorities, try WiFi first, then Bluetooth, then OnStar\cellular. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be included.

So, now that you have it working, are you pleased with the update? Did you use the old app much (you are fairly new on the forum, so maybe not).

I really do like the new app and use it daily. I tried to use the old one (was not working mostly) and got so frustrated I called support. Being new to this EV thing I wanted all the tools I could get to see what was useful and what was a time waster... So new app is useful. for sure

I should have noted I did remove and re-install the app, reboot the phone, reboot the infotainment system. Still no Keepass joy. I can't see how anything GM can do to the car remotely would change anything. The car didn't change [unless GM is now doing OTA updates], the app did. Infotainment SW ver still says 14.5.0.

I got the updated 5.0.1 of myChevrolet. Not sure it works all that much better but I do think it looks better.

My question, is I can no longer find the "initiate keypass" button on the app. It just never appears, whether in the car or not. I suppose I can uninstall and re-install but just wondering if anyone has any ideas on that.

Thanks!

Do you mean the one that lets you do the initial pairing? That is in the list when you select "More" at the bottom right. When you are paired, you get a little icon at the top beside the name of the car, and when you are actually close enough to connect it is colored (green?). But mine does not stay paired. It has been reported and there is a ticket open for that.

BTW, if you hit "More" and only see a few lines with social media on them, the only solution is to delete and re-install afaik. I've also reported that.

That helps. Thanks. I see a bunch of stuff under "More" but no Keypass. So I think it is re-install city.

I am thinking GM hires software developers from .... well areas that want to develop better software developers. Every time (on android anyway) you move back to the app from something else, it re-signs into GM wasting time. The thing looks better but still feels like a Model A. Hopefully GM can push this to the level of at least a Model T.... Now why am I talking about Fords?

The iOS app just got an update, to 5.2.0(254). It might have fixed the keypass repeated setup problem (I removed and reinstalled the app). So far, so good. If it's still working in a few days, it's fixed. Now if I could only get it to stop asking me to log in while I'm driving - since ver 5, when I start the app on CarPlay, it tells me to stop driving and log in, even tho 'stay logged into the app' is active. I have cellular data turned off for it, since it can be a data hog and I have a very limited data plan. That could be part of my problem.

Please let us know. It did not help my keypass problem, but I did not totally delete and re-install either. I'll try that.

Also, what do you do with the app in CarPlay? Do you actually get some useful routing and charging info? It has never worked for me!
