New 2020 Premier, 1st EV and Loving It, Questions/Observations

New 2020 Premier in Cayenne Orange, and thrilled so far.
It is used on a 80-mile round trip commute in PA winter weather, running about 20% over the initial GOM, but I use the heat and am still exploring the limits of power and I am perfectly cool with it so far, the desire was to be able to go 2 full days of commute without charge and it gives me about 40-50 miles after two days of round trip commute. Exactly what I had hoped for. I have a 32A capable L2 charger installed and all is good with that but needed to know that I'd make it two days if I skipped it for one night.

I'm 6' / 300# and am happy so far with the seats. Being as petite as I am maybe I have low expectations, but it is almost as good as my Mazda 3 seats were with way more headroom and while that Mazda had 180K on the odometer, so it's worn but I don't necessarily see a problem with these seats.

Question 1: The manual has literally no mention of precondition based on searching for that word, but is there a way to do preconditioning without turning on the daytime running lights? Its 5AM when I leave and I'd rather not have the lights on.

Question 2: Is there a particular configuration that I can get either screen to activate the outside temperature? I usually have Android Auto/Waze up so that may be the issue, but I didn't see the main screen having the option.

Question 3: Utility of the hotspot? I see that there are great prices for the data, but without kids in the back, and both of our phones being unlimited data is there any utility/usage in the Bolt that I may miss when I let that program lapse at the end of the free trial?

Observation: The usefulness of the wireless charging is completely lost if you use Android Auto or Carplay. Without wireless AA/CP It has no function at all, and apparently cabled and wireless is an issue for androids. It is further diminished from being a benefit if you cant fit a Samsung S10+ or Iphone Middle or Larger phone if you happen to use a case. I truly wish that Chevy supported wireless data with the wireless charger. If they did with their hotspot that may get me to spend the money on the monthly data plan but that is my only real bummer moment on the new Bolt experience.

Welcome to the forum. You've already gotten deeper into the capabilities than most. It seems to be inherent that some tech makes the user want more and better.

I would suggest charging every day to 85-90%. This would give you enough range to cover you for a day when you may not be able to charge due to a power failure for example. Many EV owners go by the ABC rule.....Always Be Charging.

Will definetely ABC, L2 Installed and easy access, just trying to establish some base numbers for cold weather driving for my use case. Thanks for the insight!
With current temperature about 40F I expect to get about 3.5 m/kWh or about 208 miles range. When temperatures drop into the single digits, and more cabin heat is needed, I've been as low as 2.5 m/kWh and 150 miles of range.

Try looking for "Remote Start" in the manual.
There are several lighting options such as "Entry lighting", Exit lighting" in the Vehicle Personalization menu. Not sure exactly where but look around and you will find it.

Those are about what our 2017 shows with "hilltop charging". We've never needed max range,so never fully charge.

Congrats!!!

I don't believe there is an option to not have lights come on with preconditioning, but I'd love to be wrong on that and told how. (At least not that I've found with my '17)

Nope. Although the latest AA has enabled showing the temp. But it's the google defined temp and not the car's temp. That's a big difference if you are driving in the cold and watching out for a drop that might get a local area into freezing.
I did request that from Chevy (allowing the temp to be on the driver display) as a feature, and I even got a ticket number for it. ;-)
But I am not holding my breath on that.
