Hello, we just bought a brand new white 2020 Bolt LT for $23960, after $11500 in incentives ($8500 Chevy and $$3000 Costco). That price included everything but VA sales tax and tags.

The dealer charge included in that price was $799. Options include DC Fast Chg, Comfort and Convenience, Driver Confidence, Driver Confidence II, Black Bow tie Emblems, False Cargo Floor, and Rubber Floor Mats. Sticker price of 40110 includes $875 Dest Chg but not the rubber floor mats thrown in later.

We are enjoying the car so far but heard a horrible chattering/grinding noise at rear when I turned it off at one stop on our first trip around town doing errands after bringing it home a day earlier. I will post this noise that I heard in an issue related forum section as well to make sure I reach the most people.

IF you put it in Park, or turn it off, without your foot on the brake, it will growl horribly.

Welcome! As above - that's the most likely reason. Definitely jarring the first time you hear it. Fortunately, it happened to me while I was test driving it so the salesman told me exactly what it was.

Apart from depressing the brake pedal, you can also engage the parking brake before hitting Park. Both maneuvers will prevent the grinding noise.

Thanks. Growl is another word I thought of using. But to be clear, I am not talking about the typical sound I hear when the Parking Brake engages. I think we are all on the same page here, but just making sure. Anyway, before I came back here to the forum I kind of gathered that what I heard was the Parking Brake engaging abnormally. I did return to the (inclined) scene and noted that the car didn't roll downhill in L without foot on brake, so it is only more likely in my mind that I turned off the car without my foot on brake and in L (remembering I heard the pedestrian safety drive tone). Whatever the case, should I be concerned I damaged anything? Thanks again for your interest.

And thanks for the kind words of welcome and advice on parking brake, everyone. Did I mention they have level 2 chargers where I work at no cost? I wonder how long that'll last though. I usually take bike and train to work on a Tue-Sat workweek, but I may just drive on Saturdays and charge up there regularly. My spouse will usually be driving the Bolt, once literally going back to work again, but won't typically need it on Sat. With all this talk about work, I want to add that we are feeling quite fortunate to both be working right now and wish others the best when it comes to that.

Yes. This is nothing like the electric parking brake. This will make you check your underwear. There is speculation as to whether it is a real mechanical sound of the parking pawl, or generated by a noise maker.

So you’re saying you got ~$17,000 off MSRP which included a dealer discount of ~$5500?
