Hi Everyone, just picked up a base LT model with only DCFC. I already put over 220 miles on it in two days. Love the car. Tried DC fast charging the day after picking up the car since I drove all over and put over 150 miles on it in one day. I tried a Electrify America 50 kWh charger. Not a great deal at all, but boy it is fast. Gained about 30 miles in just 15 min charging, but I paid $5.80 including $1 session fee. Not a good deal but it is an option when you really need to charge up quick. Other networks near me are Greenlots and EVgo. I haven't tried them yet. Unfortunately I don't have a L2 charger at home and it'd be very costly to install one due to my small electric panel.

Thanks PhilBo. I think I'm fine with L1 charging on weekdays (less than 20 miles a day driving) and maybe need DCFC on a Monday after weekend driving. I got 12K miles per year on my lease but now I'm not sure it's enough since now it's my preferred car to use for errands to save gas $$. I put 220 miles on it over the weekend. ?

Welcome Bear! Make sure to install Electrify America App if You need lotta DCFC - Pass and Pass+ will reduce Your costs. DCFC is all I know I needed - the extra few bells whistles on my LT are nice but not needed compared to good efficiency and DCFC.

... and look in your user manual for the Chargepoint RFID tag. I ordered a free one then realized I had one included with the car. haha

Hi Bear,
I also have just bought my first EV, 2020 Bolt. I also bought a 26 Amp Mustart L2 charger. This runs on a 240 volt 30 Amp line (Dryer). I'm extremely happy with this, and I don't need any special wiring.

Thank you for the welcome everyone. Unfortunately I don't have access to an electric dryer. Mine is a gas one, so I have no 240V plug. But it's OK, I live very close to work, and 10 minute walk to a city hall with EVgo 50 kWh. I searched the manual (PDF) but couldn't find the word "ChargePoint" or "RFID". Anyone else got a RFID with the car?

Yes, there was a card included with my 2019 LT. It is in a little folded marketing sleeve, kind of like the paper jacket your hotel keys come in. You need to login to the ChargePoint website to create an account and give them a CC, etc. to associate that card with your account. Or you can just request a new card from the website and wait a couple weeks to get it.

Question for me is what to do with that little card. I hung mine on a string around the windshield washer lever in my car. It's an odd little size that doesn't really fit correctly into a wallet. But if someone were to steal it from my car, I reckon they could travel around the country charging their electricity to my CC.

With your usage, you'll be fine with the L1 charger. Save the DCFC for the rare long trips.

We've owned ours for nearly three years and found the L1 would have been all we needed for local use. Since the utility gave us an L2, we took it, but it's not a necessity for most real world use.

If it gets stolen, you can disenroll the card from your ChargePoint account.
