My Spark EV had a pedestrian warning honk, you pull the headlight bright switch and it would beep a couple times quickly if you were under 30mph.
As did each of the GM EV-1s I drove...25 YEARS AGO.

It had a nice warble sound, that didn't cause pedestrians to jump out of their shoes.

The 2023 model has a "pedestrian safety signal" so pedestrians can hear your approaching EV. Could that be your noise?

I have a 2022 EUV, which doesn't have this feature, so I can't describe its sound.
All Bolts are equipped with pedestrian safety signal, but at speeds up to 15 or so. Sounds kinda like a George Jetson vehicle. It's to give a pedestrian a sporting chance.

I have had my Bolt for less than two full weeks. I had a different EV prior. The primary difference I’m noticing when driving my BOLT EUV is that isn’t a “silent.” There is a distinct sound noise. I’ve turned off the climate to see if it’s connected but it doesn’t seem to be. Is this normal?
They are speakers connected at the front. You can remove a fuse but is no legal. Is a pedestrian security thing. I try to changed for the sound of the flaying cars of the SuperSonics (cartoon x the 70’s) but don’t work

I like the sound. It's slightly reminiscent of a light cycle from the OG TRON.
But it would be nice if we could change it. If I understood correctly when we ordered one, the KIA EV6 has a choice of three sounds.

Is it required by law? Or is the factory simply required to install it? Where I live, DRLs have to be on every new car but it's totally legal to disable them before you drive your new car off the lot and many do. Same with the noise maker I bet, ( but I don't know). I haven't decided yet as I'm still waiting for my car. It appears to be a cool sound but, if it disturbs my neighbors too much, then it's gone. It's your car to do as you please.
It won't disturb your neighbors. You have to be close to the car to hear it. You can barely hear it inside the car. I can't really describe it... Kinda like the sound of wind blowing through a tube. I don't mind it at all.

On the topic of the futuristic sounding pedestrian safety signal, has anyone figured out how to disable it? ....
I have to ask,,,,
Why do you hate pedestrians and their safety?:(
What have they ever done to you?

Could be!
Then you'd have the:
Pedestrian Hating Alert Function.

Come on peeps, do something good with your time...

Yeah. There's just no sensible reason to disable this safety feature. You're only thinking about yourself. There are others in this world with disabilities who depend on sound for perception.
While I agree in principle, I think it comes down to how loud it is. I've test driven new Bolts but never thought to listen and don't recall hearing it at all which tells me it might be fine the way it is. Today I test drove a Nissan Ariya and a Mercedes-Benz EQB 350 and both were barely audible. I would not disable those. My neighbor has a Tesla 3 and it's a tad ridiculous. I can hear it through the walls of my house and from half a block away. It almost seems like they made it that way just to advertise the car to everyone around it. I'm surprised Musk didn't set it to fart mode.

Now that this thread has been completely derailed, I have to say that my 2023 Bolt EUV makes noise also. The pedestrian alert turns off at 30 mph and the noise I hear is above that speed. I believe it is noise from the air going over the car or tire/road noise.

Got my ‘22 EUV about 2 weeks ago and confirmed I have the “shutter flutter” noise as well. I confirmed this by checking that the grill shutters were closed before I started my commute. Then, after about 20 miles I noticed the noise was gone so I pulled over and the shutters were open. By the way, I don’t think the shutters are controlled by outside temperature as others have said in previous threads. That radiator looking thing behind the shutters is actually an air conditioning condenser and I think the shutters are controlled by the temperature requirements of the battery and/or whatever else needs to be cooled by the cooler including the bodies inside the car. Now that I know what is causing the noise I think I can wait until my first service visit/tire rotation to spring this problem on my dealers service department.

I wouldn’t wait.
That shutter flutter will wear out the shutters ( or the associated bits like bushings and actuators) at a faster pace. If you are not going to fix it soon, you would do well to put a 20 + inch piece of cardboard over the passenger side of the grill.

Hmm… That’s a good point. I’ll make a phone call tomorrow and see what kind of response I get.
