Silly question borne out of my ignorance, which, when answered, will reduce my ignorance: For those of you placing (for the winter snow/slush/salt/sand) rubber carpet mats (or even all-weather mats), are you placing them over the carpet mats provided, or INSTEAD of the carpet mats which can go back in next Spring?

PS. I know to vacuum the carpet beneath very well to not "grind in" dirt and rotten pine needles.)

PPS. Rubbermaid mats at Target are $29.95 for all 4 and can be trimmed to fit the Bolt.

Nope - I asked if he would consider it about a month back. In the interim, I found: https://voltshelf.weebly.com/new-boltpedal-dead-pedal-protection.html <- I have not tried it yet, but it looks passable. I think the OP's version looks a bit nicer/fits better, but I am considering.

I also looked into trying to build my own. I bought some antislip carpet and velcro, but have not taken the plunge.

Thanks for the reminder to get something velcro'd up here until I decide on a permanent solution.

This deadpedal footrest is a clever and well executed idea! I just got mine this week, well worth the $30.00. I love how it looks 'factory' and attaches in place with the high quality 'hook and loop' fastener. Now if I could just find Thule roof rail mounts for my crossbars...

I'm now offering my latest project for sale - the Bolt carpet protector footrest dead pedal.

The issue is that the carpeted left foot rest in the Bolt quickly gets dirty, and don't even ask about the pine needles the carpet absorbs - way beyond vacuuming - you need tweezers.

So the solution is a sturdy black 3D-printed ABS plastic foot rest cover, about 1/8" thick, so it doesn't raise foot placement much. It's designed with non-slip nubs, to mimic the brake pedal cover on the Bolt.

Installation takes 10 seconds - just place it on the carpet and press a little. It won't move around, because the back side is completely covered with 4" wide Velcro hooks. It is easily removed, if ever: just peel it off the carpet.

I'm asking $30US, which includes USPS Priority Mail to US addresses only. PayPal rwzehr @ gmail(dot)com
I've got my own 3D printer and could certainly design my own. Is this up on Thingiverse or care to share the file with a fellow forum member?
