Agreed, and totally understand that the most efficient driving in the world would be to never touch a brake pedal or have regen slow the vehicle down, but the reality of living in a city with lots of cars is that (relatively) rapid acceleration and deceleration are necessary and unavoidable.Yes, the best efficiency is having no regen when you lift your right foot. But this is not possible in the Bolt EV, unfortunately.
Regen can only regain a fraction of the energy - probably less than 50% at best - so when you want to carry speed, then feathering the accelerator only putting barely enough power to keep going, is the best. Think of how you would ride a bicycle - and do that.
