I figure the new administration, loving fossil fuels so much, will kill this credit. Hopefully not retroactively. Maybe we should let a sleeping dog lie.

If the 200,000 is exceeded, who gets the credit and who loses??
According to a federal document that some Volt owner found, the first 200,000 buyers can get the full $7,500 tax credit due to the larger battery size. Afther that, the next amount is half ($3,750), then it is phased out in smaller amounts. So if the first 200,000 GM EVs are sold, there still is some credit. Anyway, not everyone who buys a Volt or Bolt EV can qualify. I don't because I live in a territory that does't pay Federal taxes at all.

It would be nice if 400,000 EV buyers gets the full credit amount, but that means the gov't will have to do it for everyone else and it's going to be very expensive to do so.
