PSEG-LI has a $500 rebate for select web-enabled EVSEs.

Good for an EVSE purchased from 1/1/19 through 12/31/19.

As part of rebate, customer agrees to allow PSEG to monitor the EVSE usage.

Open to all Long Island PSEG residential customers.

The JuiceBox Pro 32 is on the list, and it’s $499 with shipping, so it’s essentially free with this rebate.

Although I have long had my EVSE and don't need another, I had heard about this from another EVer at work. Someone else had fears of allowing internet access to PSEG. I don't have an opinion either way about allowing access, but would like to hear opinions on that.

PSEG would have access to charging session data. They would not have any control over how and when an EVSE is used.

Here on Long Island, LIPA and PSEG are way behind the curve when it comes to support for EV ownership. There are few smart meters, and no off-peak time-of-use rate breaks for EVs. I’m happy to see that LIPA / PSEG are finally making plans to encourage EV ownership, this rebate program is the first step.

Privacy is a concern for some, and this rebate program is voluntary. My hope is that the utility will soon announce an off-peak rate structure for EVs, right now our electricity cost is about 22 cents per kw 24/7. That’s no bargain.

I hope PSEG in NJ has a similar program, I couldn't find anything after a quick search.

I've read that they do have TOU plans here, but they're not very practical and some have had problems finding people at PSEG who actually can install and monitor the meters correctly.

Consumers Energy will offer the same program shortly. Opportunity for me to upgrade my EVSE, which I got for free back in 2012.
Assume this is funded by a federal program or tax credit for the utility.

Just ordered a JuiceBox Pro 40 from EmotorWerks... $549 with free shipping. PSEG L.I. will be giving me $500 back.... sweet deal!
Didn't need a EVSE as my homemade JuiceBox DIY kit from 2012 is still going strong, but it has no net connectivity features so I'll retire it as a backup and use the new JB Pro 40 as my everyday EVSE once it arrives.

PSEG L.I. is going to hate me as a customer (which is alright as I hate them too because we pay 23 cents/kWh here)..
I am electrically net positive for the year so far with my solar array, and now they're paying me for my EVSE... love it!!!
The only thing they get me for now is $12/month for grid connect fees.

No Xmas card from PESG L.I. for me this year most likely
