Were the brake/caliper pistons/pads OK. The pads usually glide on the rotor and cleans up rust. Your rotor looks like the pads are not making any contact which makes me wonder if the caliper piston is OK.

I can hear the rusty rotors while backing down the driveway. I lightly apply the brakes and remember to use them during the day until the noise is gone, as I almost religiously use Regen otherwise. Rotors are slightly pitted now after 8k miles. This is in Cleveland in the salt belt.

Just shift to N on some exit from interstate speeds. Wait, brake late and HARD!
Get those Dang Discs and Pads up to High Temps,,, for once in their pampered life!

I mean, 'Smell them with the windows down when you come to a stop' HOT.
Just once a year.
Racer Bois call this 'Bedding in' the pads.
You're supposed to do this to get them to work properly when you have fresh pads.

EV brakes have it so easy. They don't know what work is. No wonder they get rusty and noisy...:cautious:
