Looking for guidance in back seat removal . The bottom comes out easy, However the back/head portion's removal procedure is unknown . I have a healthy respect for airbags , and they adorn each side of the seats . Any knowledge on seat removal w/o bag deployment . ?

I'd love answers to that too. I would have pulled the rear seats out already but for concerns about the airbags. This video is as close as I have come to any info. They show them taking the rear seats out, but skip through it in a few frames, so not much help. But it appears the bolsters are just held on with velcro.

This makes me think the airbags are not those things on the side.

They refer to them as bolsters, and bolster covers.

The side airbags may be underneath them?

Supposedly you can disarm airbags by pulling the negative battery terminal. This video says to wait ten minutes.

US first responder instructions say to wait at least ten seconds.

European first responder instructions say to wait at least one minute.

Rear seat removal

I would like to see tutorial/video. Trying to get my old and arthritic lab into the too small back seat to go to the vet and I need to remove the lower bench to improve access for her. Or alternatively, remove the front passenger seat. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This looks so easy....
But it doesn't work on my Premier. Like others said, the padding gets in the way, and after releasing the clip, I cannot lift up the seat. Thinking of removing the two bolts in the center support to see if that well give the needed wiggle room..

I've done it, it isn't particularly easy. The removal of the support bracket isn't bad, the crawling around and wiggling around the seats is what's bad. And it isn't easy to get back together with the supplemental restraint padding in place. If I was doing it again I'd consider disabling the supplemental restraint system by disconnecting the battery and removing the padding instead.

One thing that isn't totally clear in the video is you need the seat back at about a 45 degree angle to be able to pull it out. If you don't have it at an angle, it stays locked to the other seat.

Does anyone know how to remove the padding on either side of the backrest for the rear seats?

After removing the lower seat cushion the side airbags remove by removing the nuts securring the black flat bar at the bottom of the side airbag assembly, then raise the assembly slightly and pull forward to disengage upper T shaped bracket.Your left with an electric wire and plug to disconnect ,I didn't,t try that due to triggering a warning light,it looked to be enough to access the final spring hinge for backrest seat removal.

It is an airbag, so I'd advise against uplugging it unless you disable the SRS either by disconnecting the 12 battery for > 2 minutes, or pulling the fuse for the SRS.

I found this old post... so easy to remove the rear seat back!

Also found this YT video demonstrating removal of rear seat bottom.

This one demonstrate removal of a 2019 Premier Rear Seat Bottom which would have rear seat heaters... Thus the one electrical connector.

Also, rear seat delete version... a few of us here needing only 1 or 2 seats would have bought this version instead.

I was able to just pull the padding out without disconnecting any wires.

Lift padding up and pull toward the side, resting on the car frame.

Everyone… this has been helpful. Our Bolt will be a 2-seater and the removal of the rear was successful because of this string. I’ll build a floor over Christmas break and post pics. Seats will be stored and ready for install if our lives change or we sell it.
