Very excited, I finally pulled the trigger on a receiver and trailer wiring adapter for my Bolt so I can throw the bike rack on and pull my trailer without having to burn dinosaur juice!

I ordered the Draw-Tite 24956 receiver and Curt 59236 wiring adapter. While the last three receivers I installed were from Curt and I was happy with them, in this case I liked the greater capacity of the Draw-Tite. Without inspecting the tail light wiring connector I'm pretty sure GM is using PWM to run the tail / brake light which requires a little fancier wiring adapter.

I probably won't get at installation until late March or April, but I will update when I do and post a few pics of the trailer wiring and the installed receiver.

It was really straight forward actually. I bought that one in case I needed the PWM feature, but I'm pretty confident a lower end controller without PWM world have done the job also considering the circuits that I tapped into. I ran a dedicated power feed from the 12v battery to the light controller, and a new ground back in the trunk. It took a bit of extra work to run that 12v lead through the car, but that is the best practice method and I have no worries about damaging the power circuit for the car's rear light control module. I took photos of the install, let me know if you those would be worth my posting them to the web somewhere and linking back to here.
