The dealer got back to me on the Seatbelt fire recall. Unclear how long it will take. I guess I will just do it after the new year.

So the dealer sees 3 recalls in their system for my VIN (it's from GM Global something). The battery, the seatbelt pretensioner... and something I can't see on Chevrolet's or NHTSA's website:
"Service Update Bulletins" N222369401 "Advanced Diagnostic Software (ADC) Improvements" 9/20/2022 Status "Open"

I have a screenshot that I can share too... it's just trapped on my phone (they texted it to me!).

Any ideas what N222369401 is? It's been out since 9/20/2022... but I don't know about it.

EDIT: Indeed, NHTSA does show this applying to my Bolt (by MY, but not VIN).

Is this something I should push to get before my 1500 mile road trip? Or should I leave well enough alone?

There is no hurry to do it. Normally, the advanced diagnostic software should have been done at the moment they replaced your battery. But they didn't, as they didn't do it on mine either. It appeared in my dossier in September. I only did it in late November, when I needed to go change my tires for the winter ones. During that period (September - November) I drove more than 1500 miles. Nothing happened.

I didn't get a battery replacement yet.

It’s just a diagnostic software update, not a safety recall. What you are showing is a bulletin and not a recall as such.
It might also prevent some stupid false positive error from popping up on my lengthy trip... or it might have new bugs itself :ROFLMAO:
@Voldar experience gives me confidence of leaving it alone.

Anyway, I opted to drop it off the day before and let them do the ADS update.

Yeah I was getting some weird warnings about unauthorized fob attempted access, and about my 12v battery being low and it would shut down some accessories to preserve battery life, which nothing ever shut off. Since the update I have not gotten any weird warnings.
I have not noticed anything with this new update.

Danger Will Robinson!

There are several diagnostic updates, some apply pre-pack replacement, some post-replacement.

Those intended for pre-replacement WILL limit your charging to 80%. If you are planning long trips, losing 20% capacity could be a hardship.

Post-replacement diagnostic patches won't mess with charging settings, so you can charge to 100%.

The only potentially good thing about the 80% pre-replacement patch seems to be some very loose correlation between some members who quickly became eligible for pack replacement due to diagnostic findings from the patch.

But, you gotta ask yourself, do you feel lucky?

I already have this software, and you shouldn't be charging to 100% at a DCFC. I see no issue with 80% since this limit exists out of practicality regardless.

I have not yet received a new battery. The only reason I'd want an update is the text in the NHTSA website describes corrections for false positives. I don't want false positives to ruin my trip.

Oh I was talking about the last software update post battery swap.

OK, as long as you are aware. But since you don't have a new pack, the diagnostic patch that limits 80% is the latest (as I recall). I was understanding that all of the subsequent diagnostic patches were applicable to Bolts with the new packs only?

I called the concierge before my February trip, asking to be bumped up for a replacement. They recommended not getting the 80% limit patch to make range more manageable. I am glad I had it because a few times I did L2 to 100% and it made for easier travel days. I get the no 100% at DCFC, but there were three stops that I needed to charge to 95% or more to bridge gaps. DCFC is still faster than L2 up to about 95%, so I would have been stranded with the 80% limit.

The dealership and NHTSA don't seem to discriminate. I think this is some kind of different update than what you are thinking as this update applied originally only to 2022-2023 models.

Now NHTSA shows that GM recently extended this update to 2020-2023 models (and to discard all previous copies of the bulletin). See the NHTSA link above.

Good to hear! As I've planned out the route, this shouldn't be an issue for me and I wouldn't have to charge to 100% to make a stretch between chargers.

I couldn't find any previous messages about this issue so decided to post. Today I received a GM safety recall notice N222383791 for my 2019 Bolt. According to the notice "In certain crashes that cause the front seatbelt pretensioners to deploy, the exhaust from the deployed pretensioner may ignite fibers in the floor carpet near the B-pillar. Following a crash that causes the setbelt pretensioner to deploy, a fire may develop in the area near the B-pillar, which may increase the risk of injury". The fix is to have "metal foil" installed at the carpet near the pretensioner exhaust but parts are not currently available. This seems like a flimsy fix for one thing. Has anyone else received the notice?

I just got the letter about the seatbelt pretensioner recall. Apparently there's a problem with a small thermal exhaust port, right below the main port...
It should be very quick to fix. It's just needed some metal tape (for 2021 Bolt anyway).

I think it's a little hard to get at the place to put the tape though! They couldn't show it to me... or at least that's what they told me.

I received the recall notice and the fan motor wasn't moving air so I called Dale Earnhardt Jr Chevy in Tallahassee FL. They got the car in within 5 days. I live about 100 miles away so couldn't leave the car. They told me with the seat belt recall they would give me a loaner, great.
3 days later the car was ready, everything covered under warranty. The service writer told me it takes more time to get to the seatbelt part that they have to put a piece of tape on than the actual repair.

It only took them 3 hours to do the metal tape and a software update bulletin for mine.

I left the car with them to warranty replace the fan motor so couldn't say for sure how long the seatbelt recall took. The service writer did say it was more involved than he would have thought just to put the tape on.
