Currently we have a 2017 Bolt. I love it. It meets all my expectations. My wife inherited our 2011 Miev, which has been a good car generally, but getting long in the tooth. Naturally my wife is a little jealous that I took the Bolt over.
I've been thinking about replacing the Miev with another 2018 Bolt and am putting a deposit on one today. My thinking is that the Miev may only have limited time left, and it's short range has always been a problem. (I think "range anxiety" was coined when the Miev was made). Additional factors: GM is approaching its federal tax credit limit. Prices may rise when the Trump tariffs hit. Chevy is offering great discounts now. A new version of the Bolt won't be available for several years yet. Seems like the stars are aligned for this move. What do you think?

Not sure where you're located since you didn't share that info in your post or beneath your avatar. Putting a deposit on one may get you one in the next few months unless your dealer searches for you with another dealer for a trade. I've read a few opinions that state Chevy may send the majority outside the USA to save the Tax Credit for another 6 months. There are dealers on the west coast in the Bay Area that have over 100 in stock and are offering very good prices. With that many choices, the vehicle you want may be available right now.Chevy is indeed offering great discounts now but may not when you close the sale unless you can get them to agree now on a price.May be worth consideration to look afar. BTW,congrats on Bolt #2 .

I can't think of a way that the Bolt EV isn't a better car than the MiEV (which I actually like, but as you said, is range limited). I think you're also right to be concerned about near-term availability of a number of upcoming EVs. Demand is higher for every current and upcoming, no-compromise EV than any manufacturer can keep up with.

Good points Recardo. I live in San Diego, about 100 miles S. of LA. My local dealer had some in stock, and does "price matching". So I perused the LA dealers to find their best discounted models, printed out the specs and took them to my local dealer. After some hemming and hawing, they honored their policy and offered me exactly the car I want. Done !

I do have a confession though. I had good reasoning points for the purchase, but my wife made the difference. She was jealous that I took over the first Bolt, and following a basic marriage principal (Happy wife = happy life) bought the second Bolt for her.

Nope. 1997. GM EV-1. I leased three of them over five years.
