Hi everyone,
Just a couple of days after I got my new 2020 bolt, my front black bowtie was stolen. I wasn't aware that the black bowties are $120 and can easily be pry off. Has anyone had to replace theirs because of theft and how did they secure it? I'm contemplating whether to replace it or just order the gold one for $24 and the black vinyl to it if I can't secure it. TIA.

I did not care for the black bowtie but it was a dealer installed item (meaning for more profit). If the black one got stolen, best to just put the cheaper gold one if you want something there.

The crosses are super glued on and are not easily removed.

Best to just order the yellow one and vinyl the inner cross black. Order a couple in case it happens again.

Not trolling... Just looking for some honest feedback from fellow owners. I took it to the dealer and it does look like someone pulled it out as the tabs that's supposed to hold it is broken. Dealer says the grill now has to be replaced. I'll take the route from the others to just glue in a gold emblem and put in the black overlay. Thieves know the price of these bowties and it does look like it can easily be stolen. Ebay sells it at $100. Saddened this happened the first week as a new owner. Thanks to the others for the recommendations.

This is bizarre and I agree, who would want a Bolt emblem? I would grab some 3M VHB tape as is used for the rear emblem and stick the replacement right on there without the tabs. Also you can find both emblems online for under $100 part 42475530

Get a dashcam that has motion sensitivity.
Vantrue N2 Pro is what I use and it works great and has that feature.

Even if the OP had a dashcam, I highly doubt that the police would spend any time at all trying to find a thief who stole an emblem even if they had a clear picture of the thief's face. I feel it would only work as a possible deterrent or if the thief turned out to be someone the OP knew.

After a couple of months the front black emblem fell off my 2017 Bolt in a parking lot. Turns out that the Bolt came to the dealer with a yellow emblem and they decided to replace it with a black one. They botched the job and had to replace the whole grill. I suspect that may have happened in this case.

"Dealer installed option" = more profit for nothing.

Yeah, I don't believe it would be stolen. The black bowties don't come pre-installed from the factory - the dealer has to pry off the factory gold ones and put on the black ones. I actually read the whole instruction sheet on how to do it, as the $220 charge is ridiculous for that, and wanted to see what is involved. I am with the others that think the dealer broke the tabs taking the gold ones off and didn't care or bother to correct the problem they caused you.
I don't mind the gold ones, but the more I think about it, I actually think I would paint them blue.
