So there was an update on Android Auto (AA) and Google and Waze recently. I only allow updates that I want on my phone.

Now there is a banner on the bottom of the screen that you can push circles for things like Podcast etc. I don't WANT THAT and it takes away space on the screen. It is about an Inch thick WHAT ARE THEY THINKING ???

You CAN'T take the banner off.

I had to delete some of the circle apps from my phone to get them off.
Can't get Podcast off, I do NOT have that app in my phone so it must be a google thing.
Settings just bring you to your setting on you phone.

I also moved the time over to the Left side.

Anyone else have this ? Do you know how to get that darn banner off on the bottom?

I will get a pic later

The "banner" is there to stay in the current version which you are now using.

I agree with you.. I don't like it and it even cuts off icons in Waze if you're reporting a stopped vehicle, crash, etc...
They can reduce it 40% and it would still do the job and be less obtrusive.

I don't like that they moved the clock to the left side.. it's obscured by the steering wheel.

I tried the new AA and due to the strip at the bottom, I switched back to the old AA, only to find it also had the strip. The strip was maybe just enough smaller that I hadn't noticed it as much.

Please use the Help & Feedback option in the AA app to ask for them to remove that banner! They could replace it with a small drop-down menu or something.

By banner, do you mean....oh...you had a podcast player banner at the bottom of your screen. I have a music player. Same thing? Yeah, WWTT?? User should be able to dismiss that if they're not using it.

I provided feedback as well, but mainly about the clock font size and location. I'd prefer it center and larger, with a capital letter being 3/4" tall.

Ah ha! Futzing with my new phone and Android Auto, I found that tapping the ● virtual button kicks you out of AA nav and shows you the apps on the phone AA can run. One being a music player and in my case, Pandora. I selected Pandora, it started streaming, and when I went back to nav, there's a Pandora control banner instead of the music player.

The strip at the bottom has always been present in AA. It's contains the navigation buttons that let you switch between apps - you need those buttons in order to get out of whatever app you're in and into another app.

What they've done in the new AA UI is to add music player controls to that strip so that you can control the audio without having to actually switch the whole screen to another app.

It's an improvement, gentlemen.

For those who listen only to SXM and radio, a valuable improvement would be to have a way to close the strip when it's not needed so the map can be taller. E.g., they could put one of those slider icon buttons floating in the bottom right corner of the map (press << to open strip, >> to close strip).

Not an improvement to many and I can't get the Podcast thing to go away. I had to delete amazon music play to get it off the screen. It is distracting.
It is bigger then it was before and now I can't get to the main AA screen to see Temps/messages etc.
I do not use anything but my radio so this is a HUGE ISSUE for me.
I want the map on all of it.
They should have had a button to LOWER it for those that don't want it.

I also agree that the Time should be in the middle top section and maybe darker so easy to read..... better yet they should have put that on the Speedometer
