In NYC it was always "The BQE" or "The FDR" or the triboro. I guess they tried to officially rename the triboro bridge. Or "the tunnel" event though there were a few of them, everybody knew which tunnel you were talking about. And the Hutch and The Belt. And yeah, New England. In Maine, 95 and 295 were just numbers amongst my people, and Route 302, route 35, and occasionally it was "The Payne Road" some of the more important thoroughfares got a "the"

Here it’s ”The Ford” or “The Lodge” or “The Southfield”. But when you call a road by number you preface it with “I” or “US” or “M”, no definite articles. If you use a definite article for a numbered freeway around here, people will think you are Canadian.

It seems like the options along the 5 are pretty slim and I might feel more comfortable taking 99, but it's such a long trip I want to cut down on time as much as possible. This would be first long distance trip in the Bolt. Is my fear misguided?

Have done two trips. One SF to Palm Desert, CA and one n from Palm Desert to Reno, NV. Both wonderful and fairly easy with plug share and other EVapps. My Chevy app was totally useless, unfortunately.

I can live with " The " I " relative to where you are , wherever that may be there's a local " I " ( As in Ike " , father of the " I " ) , no matter where you go , there you are . We can make the " I " work by having powerful CD fast chargers in place at all the rest stops ... seems simple enough even for Americans to figure out , No ?
