Sure you dont want to wait 2yrs to let them work the bugs out of that new platform?
I'm not sure it's going to be as bad as it would be for a new ICE paltform. They've already had plenty of years with the Bolt batteries as well as lessons learned about battery fires, etc. Hopefully those lessons learned will apply to the Ultium platform. As far as mechanical, hopefully the larger more heavy vehicles will get heavy duty engineering. I suspect that I'll have less issues with the Ultium platform than I did with my Saturn that came with the first supercharged 4-banger and performance suspension. I'm looking forward to having a larger vehicle that isn't going to be subject to expensive gas prices.

But it is going to be subject to a much higher up-front purchase price (for the same size-class ICE vehicle) ... so you have to overcome that up-front over-payment before you can say you're saving any real money ...
That's fine as I expect to pay more. I'm mostly looking at it from a static cost of ownership. I figure I'll pay the premium up front figure the Blazer trim I want to run about mid $50k range, which is what I would've paid with the EV6 that didn't show up for me last year, but my "fuel" expense should remain the same.

If I can get a Chevy Bolt EV, I’ll love saving $6 every time I take a round trip on the Washington state ferry boat BECAUSE of Bolt’s shortness. Yeah, three or four Bolts on a ferry saves enough space for another vehicle. The Chevy Bolt, while moving, is efficient. The Bolt, while NOT moving, is still efficient.
On a rare occasion I have to haul people and equipment. The Leaf, which is close to the size of the Bolt, was a little bit of a tight squeeze for this trip. I'm also looking forward to the charge times being improved.
