I have about a 1000 miles on my '19 Bolt, and I've noticed a squeaking problem lately as it has gotten colder--in the 40s and 50s. The steering wheel squeaks turning out of my garage, and the steering column seems to squeak when going over a bump in driving. This lasts for about 10 minutes, and then goes away.

Anybody noticed anything like this? I'll probably talke it into the dealer, and have somebody look at it. Thanks.

The dealer diagnosed the problem as some play in the ball joints, and they are replacing them.

Anyone had this problem with the Bolt, or know of it? How many ball joints are there in a Bolt connected with the steering?

Make that two steering ball joints in the front. They installed one on the driver's side, but there was still some noise on the passenger side, so they're replacing the one on that side tomorrow.
I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Mt 2021 Bolt is doing it.
Exact same thing.
Annoying.
Only fix so far is radio volume knob....

Seems to be coming from inside the car, like the grommet around the steer column where goes thru floor area.

It is not your usual squeaking suspension, it is a rubber-on-rubber kinda squeak sound.....
MAYBE rubber on smooth metal.

My 2020 is doing this as well. It definitely seems to be worst when it’s cooler and it gets better after it’s been driven for a bit. I still have to make an appointment with the dealer, it’s just really tough to get in with my work schedule.

Make sure it isn't the floor mat rubbing the steering U-joint. It was just that simple for some.
